Glen Forest Elementary is the school you seek.

At kindergarden orientation, they provided headsets for simultaneous Arabic translation to fully half the parents attenting

Are Arab children counted as white for demographic purposes.

I think so.

Yes, Glen Forest. As a bonus, you'll find the houses around here relatively cheap because the SES of this zone is quite low (I believe 70% + are on free/reduced lunch). They have a helpful Facebook and Twitter account where they show photos of the students (As an aside - how is a public school allowed to publish your kid's photo online? Anyone know?)

In APS you have to opt out of your child's photo being used. There was a form that went home in the beginning of the year if I remember correctly. I would imagine FFX has a similar policy.

Parents can sign a form that prohibits the school from using images of their kids that applies to everything from yearbooks to instagram. Some undocumented families do this.

There aren't any schools that have a large Arab community. Arabs are spread out all over. McLean and Langley have arabs and persians

We are looking to buy a house close to Tysons. I would like my kids to attend a school with a large percentage of Arab kids (we are from Lebanon).

What elementary schools should we look at? My husband will be working in Mclean so we would like to stay close to that area.

Thanks!

I teach at Marshall and we have a large percentage of Arabs here. Mostly Saudi. Not sure of all the feeder elementary schools, but I know one of them is Shrevewood.

Persians and Arabs often do not get along.

Spring Hill ES

Seconded. We are Asian and our kids attend Spring Hill. I was thumbing through their yearbooks and see a lot of middle eastern looking faces. I am not familiar with middle eastern names so I can't tell if they are Arabic or not, but it was like a lot. I also thought it was cute that many of them not only specified being doctors for what they want to grow up to be, but most specified a specialization.

Anyway, Fairfax County Public Schools tracks the very thing you are after, OP. Here they provide maps of elementary school kids based on their language spoken at home and where they live:

http://www.fairfaxcounty.gov/demogrph/languagemaps.htm

Looking at the maps now, it seems maybe the middle eastern kids I noticed are mostly Iranian perhaps? Makes sense, I have a very close Iranian friend who lived in this area when his kids were going through the schools.

These are most likely Indian kids, not Arabs. Arabs are less focused on education so it's unlikely their children would do that en masse. If a kid articulates his medical specialization THAT early, rest assured, he's probably Indian, or less likely, Pakistani.

Yes, that. Unlike Europe, Arabs in the U.S. do not tend to live close to each other, and do not factor proximity to other Arabs in their housing choices. This is why we do not have ethnic neighborhoods in this area.

Having said this, many McLean-Tysons area schools will have Arab-origin kids in elementary. None will have a "large community" of Arabs because there is no such thing as a community of Arabs in this area where many Arabs live close to each other.

They can choose to identify as white, Asian, or other. It's a mix.
