Found this article: The Math of Mass Shootings

Before blaming a religion understand that 7 out of the 129 (I counted based on names) seems to be Muslim. That is 0.05%. What about the religion of the rest? Should we blame the religions? Should we ban immigration from all countries where the shooters' heritage lie?

This article presents a lot of facts. Read and draw your own conclusions.

Why do we tend to respond to Hitler like rhetoric from Trump/(other hate mongers) when the blame is not directed to our own religion or ethnicity? When would we wake up?

Because most people are simple and they are looking for simple solutions. I'm sorry, but now that I'm starting to see Trump bumper stickers everywhere where I live, I just have a generally low opinion regarding the average intelligence of humans. Every time I see those stickers one word pops into my head: STUPID.

Why are you surprised? The avg human by the very definition cant understand complex issues. But internet gives them the power to display their avg intelligence to the globe and feel they are smart coz they vented out their opinion. Thats the Achilles heels of democracy. The avg person with avg IQ but an INFLATED self opinion is going to elect. But the saving grace is that institutions wont let the republic come down easily despite the damage one bad president can cause.

I'm not surprised. Just dismayed that modern technology gives the proudly ignorant and stupid outsized voice and power.

Hey, the other side of the free and open society, grin and bear, and hope the good/smart out votes the proudly ignorant.

Yes well, the good/smart have been outvoted before, and it could happen again. Human history is full of stories of the ignorant and terrible overtaking the good/smart. No wonder anxiety is epidemic. . .if you have a brain and can think the world is a terrifying and depressing place a good part of the time.

Thats the challenge to evolution and building a smart civilization. We are still here and we are actually having this debate. Thats a big positive. Its is painfully and glacially slow, this evolution thing(be it the physiological, sociological or anthropological evolution), but somehow ends up as a net positive.

I am so sick of the politics of death. There is a mass shooting and the debate in the other thread is how to prove it to be religiously motivated crime? The guy was American.

Why is a mass shooting carried out a Muslim a terrorism and why is a mass shooting carried out by a white a "mass shooting". How does this heinous crime suddenly becomes a discussion about immigration and radical Islam?

Do you wonder what fear innocent Muslims in this country live with? They might equally be afraid of all these mass shootings like you and me and doubly afraid living in this country where their religion alone makes them criminal.

Religion is what we it out to be. There are mentally ill people in every country and in every religion. A mass killing machine is what is common between all mas shooting. Please grow up. Your adamancy to own your favorite toy (a gun) is keeping this country vulnerable to mass shooting again and again.

1. When was the killer reported to have mental illness?

2. Where/when did he get his diagnosis?

Ok, semantics is what we should debate. What do you call a person who kills 50 people out of rage/hate/whatever? Crazy, Evil, so be it. Let me rephrase my statement so that we can agree on more important stuff. There are crazy/evil people in every country and in every religion. A mass killing machine (assault weapon) is what is common between all mass shooting. Please grow up. Your adamancy to own your favorite toy (a gun) is keeping this country vulnerable to mass shooting again and again.
