Why? Political correctness is going to cure war and hunger? |
I have a "retarded" child and this is quite hurtful, but I guess you don't care. I think the OP was using the word stole in the same manner as "stole the show" or "stole the limelight". Not literally "stole". |
There's a really broad space between "political correctness" and being verbally abusive, and unfortunately, Donald Trump is not in that space. He uses insults and threatening language, which is not just "politically incorrect." You might think he is just "tough" but strength is not about being a jerk and a bully. |
We can close our borders if we want to or need to. Muslim countries close their borders all the time. Just try getting a visa. |
|
Trump certainly is "lucky" in a particular way.

Which Muslim countries are you talking about? And why would you want to emulate them if they're such horrible people? I don't understand why some Americans think that we need to act shitty because other countries do. Did you guys graduate kindergarten? And what about the religious minorities that live in Muslim countries and that may want to leave? What about Muslims living in those countries who just don't want to have any religion anymore (it's a thing!)? Tough cookies? |

I think he has to be given credit for strategizing with the gifted resources of timing and discontent.
There's a segment of the population that's been seething since Obama was elected and it's only gotten worse. Unfortunately, Republicans misused that sentiment and it got away from them. Trump exploited that rift between the party and their base. Then there's the horrible field of candidates. The weaknesses were so many and so obvious, that it was easy for someone with a genuine dislike for them to exploit them as well. |
Think this is part of it. He was shrewd in that he had a sense of what the base wanted. But he was lucky in that he actually is in alignment with these voters in one respect - the bombastic, America-first jingoism. So though he flips and flops like literally no other candidate in history on most of the other issues, I think he actually believes the anti-immigrant/Muslim/Make America Great Again crap, and that is the shred of "authenticity" that people are responding to. |
| The ridiculous amount of coverage the media gave him, because he was on television for 10 years and has been a famous person for 40, didn't hurt. |
Pretty much. Even Obama says we need to get off the world stage and stop trying to solve all the world's problems. |
Don't let it be hurtful to you, PP. Just consider the source. Not worth your time or effort. |
Trump doesn't worry about using the word "retarded". Every day a new word deemed inappropriate. It was not directed to your child, so do not take it personally. |
Actually, no, that word has been inappropriate for a very, very long time. Are you sad that the N word is inappropriate too, pp? Sorry you are out of touch and insensitive. |
|
Trump is canny and shrewd. His unfiltered remarks are more calculated than people understand.
Does anyone here read Scott Adams' (Dilbert creator) continuing analysis of Trump's tactics and strategies? Adams called Trump's success months ago based on his knowledge of hypnosis and manipulation of crowds. |
|
He is also completely shameless, and has mastered the art of turning every negative into a positive. That makes him untouchable.
(and no, I'm not a fan). |
