He was shrewd in that he had a sense of what the base wanted. But he was lucky in that he actually is in alignment with these voters in one respect - the bombastic, America-first jingoism. So though he flips and flops like literally no other candidate in history on most of the other issues, I think he actually believes the anti-immigrant/Muslim/Make America Great Again crap, and that is the shred of "authenticity" that people are responding to.[/quote]
