I would much rather have a nice meal at Maggianos than eat some of the disgusting food I have had at banquet halls, hotels and other assorted wedding venues.

Srsly. The meal choice card should read:
Dry Chicken Breast with Bland Cream Sauce
Cold Prime Rib with mushy mixed vegetables
Small portion of Salmon with Too Much Dill Sauce

Seriously. Typically wedding food is the pits, lukewarm food about as tasty as soilent green that you just know costs 3x as much as it should, at minimum.

We had our rehearsal dinner at a local restaurant and had our wedding catered. The rehearsal dinner food definitely outshone the wedding food. There was plenty left over from each and let's just say no one was excited for the wedding leftovers, only the rehearsal dinner leftovers.

This was seriously an option for us when trying to plan our wedding, we ended going with something very different but also went over budget too! I say go for it, make it as easy on yourselves as possible!
