What do you think of the name Aidah for a girl? Pronounced ay-duh.

It is actually a very old name. You are clueless

I like Eva better. Aidah I don't care for - the spelling looks made up and the name sounds oldish to me.

Ada is very old and classic. Aidah...I'd like to see evidence that this has ever existed until now.

I would pronounce this ah-yee-dah. If you like the name Ada, spell it Ada. Creative spellings are trashy.

If you want that pronunciation, you should spell it Ayda.

That is a Turkish name with a lovely meaning, hard to translate but relating to the moon. I love that name!

Ada is the traditional spelling of the name that OP wants. Aidah looks like someone misspelled Aida (pronounced eye-EE-duh). And it is not a made up name. The opera by Guiseppe Verdi (one of the most well-known opera authors in history) is from 1871 and is what the Elton John musical from 2000 was based on. Prior to the opera, the name was a traditional Arabic name, so the name has been around for centuries.

OP, if you use the spelling Aidah, I guarantee that most people will think you mean /eye-EE-duh/ and not /AY-duh/.

Maybe PP is thinking of "Adah", which dates back to biblical times.
