How can one be anti Shepherd? Anti-any school? Strange. |
Also Shepherd has had expensive galas for many years now, what makes you say tide is changing? |
| If you all are so supportive of Shepherd why don't you send your kids there? |
Because it's hard to get into OOB. You're speaking to more than one poster you know. |
NP. I'm attending the gala AND I send my kids to Shepherd. What a weird post. |
Not really. The tickets were $35ish the last two years, but attendance was not good at all. |
The "anti-school" folks are the bread and butter of DCUM. Every story has to have a villain to make it interesting. We have a raft of Anti-Shepherd, Anti-Powell, Anti-Hardy, Anti-Eastern, Anti-CHCluster, Anti-Hearst, Anti-BASIS, etc. here. There are not just people who had a bad experience at a school, but people who have made it their mission in life that NO ONE should like that school, forever and a day. |
I'm assuming you're referencing me as I'm the only poster that said I live in Shepherd Park but don't have kids there. I do plan on sending DD there when she's old enough to attend. Does that answer your question? |
| Yes, I would go to another school's gala if it was convenient. |
You can be supportive a community school without sending your children there. Some of us believe in private schools for our children. Nothing wrong with investing in your neighborhood school, its an investment in your community. |
|
Of course. Especially if it had an auction and I had friends there.
That's like saying, would you support a charity? OP, do you support charities? You understand the point of these fundraisers right? |
|
Chiming in late, but I have to say, as someone who tried to address both our positive and negative experiences with Shepherd on this board, that experience was just as negative as our negative experience at the school.
Not all of us are "haters" but when we bring up concerns and are then just silenced, and insulted--one poster even called my child a "bad apple" -- it's a little hard to respond politely. Shepherd's a wonderful school. Please support it. We do. And hopefully, by the time your children attend, the mean parents will have moved on to deal. |
| Support where ever you can. |
