My children didnt go to Shepherd but I will be going to their gala. I like the messaging and its a school that i believe will be doing great things in the next year. I saw on DCPS they had an astronaut there the other day to promote STEM.

Totally! Unless it's marked otherwise, these events are meant to be public and interesting places to mingle and snatch a few bargains. Of course I go and always meet people I know, if not from school, then from the neighborhood, soccer, politics, commutes etc. A plus if my tickets comes with a good bite to eat

Shepherd Park resident here (don't have kids there). Now I'm second guessing not getting tickets. Seems like the place to be!

Maybe you can give them to someone on your neighborhood's listserv, then.

Leland Melvin will also be the keynote speaker at the gala. My Shepherd PK student got a kick out of seeing him, although she was apparently unmoved as far as career direction--she still wants to be an artist.

Hello there! It's not too late! www.springgala.org

P.S. My kid was also fascinated by Leland Melvin's presentation. Can't wait to see him.

Is anyone going to a gala for a school because they saw it advertised on a listserve?

Alumni. Friends. Community members. Prospective parents. People who like beer.

I have to say for the past 10 years I have been anti-Shepherd but, it looks like the tide is turning at the school and PTA. Good to see a EOTP school changing for the better.

I plan to go to the gala. It seems like it will be a fun night. I am a Shepherd Park resident and it is for the community.
