Even anti-porn organizations will recognize that not every porn user becomes extremely addicted or begins to act violently. However, there are adverse effects, and the potential is there. Some people are so addicted, they lose control in terms of what they will/won't view. You could show them anything.....they're stuck, hook, line, and sinker. None of these orgs want to curtail first amendment freedoms of publishers/distributors/viewers. They simply want to influence people everywhere, especially teen boys, to see porn for what it is. A drug. An health epidemic. And the source of a lot of crime, misogyny, and young male mental health issues. |
None of these stories are true. No one posting here has first hand knowledge of any attempted abduction. At most, you read about one on a DCUM thread and now think it happened. |
No! Several were posted on school and neighborhood listservs. |
Also, the Smithsonian one was very widely reported. |
No. Stop by house intro you and your kid to neighbor parents. It t as ; as a village |
You are the only one who doesn't know what you're talking about. Just because you didn't hear about it doesn't mean it didn't happen. The smithsonian was widely reported. There was one in the news yesterday in Arlington too. |
Yes, I understand all of this nonsense is being reported on list serves and the Smithsonian story was on the news. Ever wonder why none of these stories are actual kidnappings? It's always "someone tried to lure me into a car." We keep hearing the same story over and over again. If this were happening this often, don't you think at least one time, the kidnapper would have forcibly taken a kid? Keep believing this nonsense. |
There's video of the Smithsonian. You are either 1. Not a parent 2. Extremely naive or 3. A child predator |
There's a video of a man walking thru the door. The video does not show the man attempting to take the kid. I will acknowledge that the Smithsonian incident may have been a real attempt, but it doesn't make the dozens of repeated list serve stories any more true. How does questioning your intelligence make me a child predator? |
Dude, you seem lost. This is DCUM. Intelligent/logical pushback to any sort of emodrama post (e.g. this one) will earn you a label from some reactionary. It's usually a simple "troll", but your reactionary decided to stay somewhat on topic. ![]() |
This is one of the most terrifying things for a parent, and therefore one of the most common rumors/urban legends. Talk to your kids. Know where they are. Give them some guidelines ("No, a grown-up won't need your help. Tell them to ask me instead." and "You say 'Let me ask my mom/dad first.'" should pretty much cover it) and then turn off the gossip fountain and go about your business.
There is not some sort of porn-driven abduction crisis going on. The odds of your child, or a child you know, being abducted are incredibly small. |
I personally know one of the families involved in a recent incident which was mentioned in this thread. Trust me, it was real. |
I'm an anonymous internet poster. Trust me. |
Um, better safe than sorry. Why do you think kids are making this shit up? Someone tried to lure me as a kid into a car so I totally believe it. Do I know they were going to kidnap me? No. Maybe they were just a weirdo. But in this day and age it isn't normal. And let's not forget some of these have been witnessed and caught on video. You're a very weird, naive, or possibly predatory person. |
PP, your reaction is weird. A non-creepy or naive person would realize shit can happen and at least give the benefit of the doubt. Said person would also realize that it may be one creepy predator, not a ton of kidnappers out there. Third, unless you think this is ok, a reaction to just outright dismiss many accounts as well as FACTS is disturbing and very abnormal. |
