This can't be real.

I am also a coffee princess.

One cup French press will be FINE. It's small and doesn't have wiring (I once had TSA investigate a coffee grinder with wires wrapped around it, not surprising).

I have seen people bring their own coffee maker to a beach house, but that usually means one drives there.

But to a hotel? Gimme a break.

This. I can not imagine taking a huge 12 cup coffee maker ANYWHERE.

I'm so glad that I enjoy coffee but don't *need* it. I nnnnneeeeeeddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddd my coffee people/coffee alchemists are so damn annoying.

Better bring your own TP, too, OP, in case they only have 2-ply instead of 4-ply for your precious ass.

I am pretty sure OP is jerking everyone's chain.

Mmmmm coffee....

We went to Disney last year. Agree that the coffee in the rooms is bad. But we got a refillable mug for the week and the coffee from the quick service at our resort was actually not bad. I am pretty picky too. Our room wasn't too far from the quick service so we would go fill our mugs and come back to the room to get ready for the day.

Go to a hotel with coffee in the lobby. Or a hotel located near a gas station or a Starbucks.

PROBLEM SOLVED!

Definitely.

I agree -- put it in the original box. Buy a new one if you need the box, they're only about $30.

Thanks, I still have the box, and use that when I travel by car-- but it's huge and takes up twice the room. I can't use the in room coffee maker-- I am going to Disney world and they have Those horrible one cup things-- I can't remember the brand, but it is not compatible with keurig. The type of discs they use are not available for purchase in stores. I will be up in the wee hours of the morning (running the Star Wars race that starts at 5 am) so just going to the food court and buying a cup of coffee is not an option ?

Have you considered calling the hotel and asking what options there are for coffee at 4am besides the in-room coffee maker? You might find a much easier solution than lugging a coffee maker with you.

And yes, if TSA spots anything unusual in the Xray they will open your bag. Any large enough container, like the carafe, will look unusual enough to warrant an actual search. From the X-ray, they really can't tell if the carafe is clear or opaque and will visually inspect to be certain.

This is so insane! I am a total coffee snob so I understand wanting your own coffee. Therefore I bring my aeropress with me - it's small, light, made of plastic, and makes excellent coffee.

To bring a huge glass coffee maker on a trip is just crazy; but I think what is worse is that you won't even make great coffee with that kind of machine.

We bring our pour-over coffee maker with us on some trips....it's not too big (but is glass, so you have to be careful).

I would ship one of these to Disney so it's waiting there for you....then bring it home!
