Air Travel with a coffee maker

Could you buy a 4 cup coffee maker with an unbreakable pot for travel. I would worry that the glass could easily break. That would be a real nuisance and you wouldn't be able to make your coffee with no pot.

I understand needing good coffee. I always bring Starbucks VIA packets and my own coffee grounds and filters. (We usually stay where there's a decent coffee maker.) So far my coffee grounds have been fine going through Customs in Canada, U.S.A., Mexico and the Dominican. In Mexico I got the red light search and they were fine with my Coffee (and peanut butter)

Otherwise I guess packing in the original box with lots of styrofoam around the glass might work. I'd be afraid in carry on someone else will bang their big bags into it and crack it.

I would not assume the cafe will be closed. I was there staying onsite for the marathon and it was open at 4 am, which is when the busses load.

Maybe just buy a cheap one when you get there and bring your own grounds? Surely there must be a small travel coffee maker that's cheap and easy to transport...

Take a French press. Much smaller and coffee is much better.

I take a little metal stove top espresso maker with me because I hate filter coffee. It doesn't take up much room and isn't breakable.

Taking a 12 cup machine on the plane is something else!

Why does it have to be a full-size 12-cup maker? Is there anything special about this particular model? Or is it just a standard automatic drip maker? Can't you find a smaller version of this maker that can make your coffee the way you like it? There are plenty that come in 1-cup, 2-cup, and 4-cup models.

What in the world? If it is a standard coffee maker and nothing special you can find one anywhere. Good lord, I just bought one at target for $6. Buy one there, or use the hotel one. I don't understand what the number of cups has to do with it unless you drink 12 cups at a time.

Ok I'll confess I have gone so far as to pack my nespresso pixie in the back of the car and...then buy a microwave when I found out the hotel did not have one in the room. But tbh I probably saved a bunch of money not buying crap Starbucks. I just don't understand why their coffee is so bad.

I just looked on Amazon, you can buy a 5-cup machine for $15. Why not buy that, have it sent to your room, then ship it back home in the box it came in? Just print a FedEx label before you go and take it with you.
