Huge difference. If you're eating large amounts of garlic for instance, it does come out in your pores. |
OK, sure, but most people aren't eating massive amounts of raw garlic on a regular basis. |
A lot of people are. Or are eating spicy food for 3 meals a day. That also can come out in your skin. |
No, I know lots of people who eat lots of spicy food and they don't smell. If spicy Indian food made you smell, my husband would smell awful. He smells lovely, in no small part due to daily showers, deodorant, and wearing clean clothes. And some people just don't smell. I learned as an adult that my dad has never used deodorant. I have no idea how he pulls that off but he always smells fine. |
| I used to work 80 hours a week (medical field). I always took showers. Most of the men took showers too. The only people who were a little stinky were people from other countries. |
I am Whatever may come out of my pores is easily washed with a soapy sponge. Regardless of your diet, bacteria will multiply on your skin, and their waste will decay and smell. So people who say they don't smell for days are delusional.

Yikes.
I would make some kind of deal. He comes home, and showers. By the time he is out, you have a drink and dinner ready for him. I know it sounds like a 1950s parody, but if he's working 80 hours, he obviously isnt cooking. And he needs some kind of positive association with showering. I would also make it clear that I would refuse to share a bed with someone who didn't shower. its gross. |
The eye rolling was the part about how "health freaks" like PP and her DH don't smell due to their "health freak" diet.
Some of the most rancid people I've ever met -- and I've known a ton -- were the "health freakiest." for one, garlic is ridiculously good for you in large amounts. So the health freak people who shovel it in every day by capsule and by the head are prone to stink. Two, true health freaks do things like commute by cycling and then often don't shower. Then you get to sit next to them. Three, actual health freak crunchy granola people, eschew commercial shampoo and antiperspirant due to parabens and aluminum. Same for Crest. I could go on all day; I know of what I speak. I think PP means her DH does Paleo or something dumb like that. |
And, at the risk of expressing who I am .... other foods can make you smell, too, depending upon your body chemistry ... dairy, coffee. But it sounds like his is simply ripeness and not showering. |
