What was up with the Rubio/Cruz Spanish fight last night?

I don't speak Spanish but it sounded fluent to me. Cruz had the last word, he won on that exchange.

Publix Service Announcement, for whatever it's worth:

To anyone who speaks Spanish, Cruz' retort sounded pretty bad, both in terms of pronunciation and grammar.

I speak Spanish and, first of all, the short clip is not enough to make a huge decision about fluency. It was pretty simple and stilted if you ask me. If Cruz has said that he speaks "lousy Spanish", I believe him. Pretty sure he doesn't speak Spanish well. Aside from that, neither Rubio nor Cruz are going to be big hispanic vote magnets. Cruz is like the Clarence Thomas of hispanic candidates. Rubio has the bona fides (Cuban background), but mostly will get the Cuban vote since that hispanic group is more conservative overall. The other hispanic groups are less conservative.

^ Of course Rubio winning in Florida would be a big deal---no doubt about that.
