I recently found a list of top "alternative" songs from the late 90s and downloaded for running music. It was great to listen to the same music I ran to in high school: Live, Sublime, Everclear, etc.

I do see people running without headphones, and I'm just in awe of their discipline.

Thank you. I've never run with music. It's like "one more distraction for me to deal with." (Headphones, carrying the device, etc. I usually don't run with a phone unless it's in my jacket pocket, or I'm carrying my water with a belt and i use the pouch.)

I think a lot on my solo runs. A LOT.

What a great decade for music.

Great thread! I need a new playlist. I usually go with hip-hop/top 40 with a fast beat. The ones that get me going when I'm slowing down:

Ke$ha - basically anything, esp Timber and Die Young
Pitbull - Time of our Lives
Taylor Swift - Shake it Off
Schoolboy Q - Man of the Year
Jay-Z/Kanye - N****s in Paris
The Weeknd - I can't feel my face
Nicky Minaj - Super Bass

Yes, I know I'm basic

Great thread, more playlists please!

I think Insomniac or American Idiot are even better for running or working out, in general. So many amazing up-tempo songs on both. A few other gems from back in the day that recently popped up while on shuffle:

Don't Let's Start - They Might Be Giants
Dream All Day - The Posies
Mountain Song - Jane's Addiction
Beginning of the End - Cockney Rejects
Any early Dropkick Murphys song
