| Stay away from the Facebook groups. Those people are cray cray. Don't worry about fancy and complicated recipes (unless you're into that sort of thing). You can do the program with totally simple foods -- grilled chicken, steamed broccoli, sliced avocado, etc. It's only a month. |
NP. I did it. I would've lost my mind if I ate such simple foods the whole month. Everyone is different. It's a good thing there's so many recipes out there. |
| Bump. I want to try a whole 30 as a reset before we start fertility treatment for baby number 2. I just started reading the book this weekend! |
I'm a PP who has done 3 rounds and will probably do another in January after a very indulgent 3 months of candy, rich food and parties. It would be a nightmare to try it in December! I did my first round in February 2015 and that kicked my Diet Coke habit completely- have never had one since. I love that it forces you to eat more/a greater variety of vegetables and I have carried that over as well. I no longer eat rice because I just love cauliflower rice as a base. Instagram is strangely the best resource for recipes IMO. Google whole30 recipes and tons of accounts will pop up with options you might never have thought of. |
| Is it worth trying this program before or after the holidays coming up? |

Agree with all PPs emphasizing prep and planning.
I’m a wimp and failed out at day 11. *But* I will say I felt fantastic and slept amazing. That was great. In the end it was the sugar that got me. I’m clearly addicted. The first three days were crazy hormonal Lu I’ve never been so sad and angry at the same time. Really showed me how dependent I’ve become. I should gear up to try again. This time of year is perfect, before the thanksgiving holiday... |
| DH and I did whole30 last year. He slept better and lost weight but I didn't see any difference (I'm already a very healthy eater). DH got very constipated the first week because he kept snacking on nuts so I recommend having some compliant snack food around other than just nuts. We blended a can of coconut milk with a raw egg to make the most amazing coffee creamer (it was yummy). First week was hard and then we got into a real groove. I made a lot of compliant soups to keep around. DH preferred salads as his 'go-to' meal. |

I did W30 years ago to kick 40lbs. I still do 80% W30. Ive always cooked from scratch. The hardest part was giving up dairy. But after I did, i realized how intolerant i was of dairy!
I feel great. The crazy thing is how much my taste buds changed. If i have ice cream or a cookie it tastes so sweet to me, it's sometimes gross. For me, now a bananna or apple is like a dessert. Oh and as a plus, im 5'9" and 140lbs at age 43. I just ran the Army 10miler and will be doing the MCM next weekend for the third time. The first time was for my 40th. It is false that W30 causes energy problems. It is the opposite. |
I also found dairy intolerance after going back on dairy after whole 30. I couldn't tell how much of it was from giving up dairy for twomonths (it came late in my reintroduction) and losing the ability to process what had been fine. I weaned back on to dairy and now it seems fine but I can't tell what's best for me on the long term. |
In my case, I didn't realize how shitty it made me feel until i realized how good i felt after i quit. I also thought gas was just what happened when you get older. Um no dairy makes me fart. Now I hardly ever pass gas. Dairy is something my taste buds love, my body hates. |
