15:51 here... The terms have nothing to do with socio-economic class. She used the term to reference parents who are only interested in sending kids to "certain" schools because it's trendy (i.e., Starbucks vs. Dunkin) and school/admissions process critics who gather in the parking lot and perpetuate negative perceptions vs. speaking directly with someone at the school.

I'm a lawyer, married to a lawyer, and we both prefer Dunkin to Starbucks. Is our child going to suffer for this?

If I were you, I wouldn't let on that I don't drink a "Big 3" coffee (Starbucks, Caribou, and Dean & Deluca)! It will undoubtedly affect the perceptions of the deep thinkers on DCUM.

Hey, I prefer Vermont Coffee Roasters and I'd just like to say that, despite the obvious prejudice on this board, everyone knows that it's really "Big 4" coffee drinkers who count!

Why are the Caribou people always pretending they're drinking a Big 3 coffee? You're not fooling anyone.

No, coffee preference won't harm your child. But, two lawyers breeding? The damage is probably already done!

Excuse me... top tier! How dare you limit the choices to four. Top tier is more inclusive and sums all the great coffee choices we have here in DC. FWIW...I like Seattle's Best!!!

Everyone knows that the less you've heard about a coffee, the better it probably is. I only drink Portland's Best Coffee, which is far superior to Seattle's Best and doesn't have that nouveau riche following that Caribou has.

Anybody want to meet me in the parking lot, grab a cup of Joe, and trash some schools?

Now there's a novel idea -- let's meet in a parking lot where none of us actually has kids! How long before somebody asks us to leave?
