You really should not be looking anymore. Just FYI.

Have him tested for celiac disease (gluten allergy). It prevents proper absorption of nutrients. Once you cut out the gluten you might see a change.

NP here. I am also shocked by how people are shocked about this. I have a similarly aged son, and I am supposed to monitor him to see if he needs intervention for precocious puberty. Neither him nor me are fazed by it or feel awkward by it. I think it all depends on how you approach the human anatomy and health. You can either shame your children, or you can be clinical about it. Monitoring growth and health is not sexual - you can do it without making a production of it . The child is still young enough that the parents have to be vigilant. It is not that it is an adult offspring and you are checking the size of their testicles.

BTW - after my delivery, my mom took care of me. If I apply the logic of the pearl clutchers, it would be horrifying that my mom saw my body parts.

People have given you advice, but it seems as though you just want to talk about your kid's genitals and the various circumstances you have seen them. I'm done replying.

PP, you are a whackjob! OP does not have a problem, but many here have their minds in the gutter.

Why did you need your mom to take care of your and your privates after delivery?
I was able to manage myself, even after I had my first. I managed on my own with toddler and newborn.

Can't trust doctors, bunch of perverts. The only person that should be seeing a 12 year old boys genitals are his girlfriend and his mother.

I have no idea why first posters are horrified. You're his parent, of course you have to see to his health and everything it entails.

No puberty at 12 is still within the range of normal, but if you're worried, don't hesitate to talk with his ped. It has a lot to do with heredity. Perhaps his father was a late bloomer as well.

Age of puberty has no bearing whatsoever on his final height (and other measurements!) as an adult.

+1

My mom left me completely on my own to figure stuff out pretty early and it is tough. Good for you, OP for being a caring mom.

I think that 12 is still within the range of normal, but it doesn't hurt to talk to your ped.

My friend has an almost 13 year-old and she was just telling me the same thing after her son;s recent physical. The pediatrician didn't seem concerned

I wouldn't be concerned. At 14, yes. Not at 12.

Talk to the ped for reassurance, OP. When did you start menstruating? Remember that everyone started at ABOUT the same time, but the ages of onset differed a lot, right? Same here with boys.

Once he starts growing, WATCH OUT!! You may look back on this fondly, all of the quiet and calm...

He is still mistaken for his sister on the phone, he has zero body hair, he's around 5'1", and I don't know if I should be saying this on here but his penis is only about an inch long and his testicles look like peanuts. I just have no idea if this is normal? Should I take him to a doctor? A pediatrician or an endocrinologist or something?

OP if it will put your mind at ease, I was this way at that age - small, no pubic hair to speak of, and I hadn't really developed yet. Puberty came late for me and I'm still really short, but I now have a normal amount of body hair and if the huffpo article is to be believed I'm in the 90th percentile (2 out of 3 ain't bad I guess).

Maybe some of these women have penis and self control issues. Nothing weird about seeing your sons penis. However if the thought of that makes someone feel weird, maybe they need to explore why they sexualize their children. That's what is gross their heads are in the gutter.

Or maybe it's because we're familiar with a resident troll with the M.O. of " concerned mom" that is obsessed with the genitalia of her child who is always around 13 years old.
Maybe we're disturbed by the fact she refers to her son's penis as "baby peen"
