95N/ Nj turnpike--when to leave?

What about Thursday at 3:00 pm?
Cleared out roads by then?

Any guess for the hours when traffic will be really for this drive ON Thanksgiving?

I know everyone says to leave at 6 am. But how late can you leave and still have it be ok? I'm guessing 11-12 pm would be the worst right -- as people are trying to make it to a 4 pm or so meal time?

Op here. We left before 7:30 this morning and flew the whole way. So glad we listened to you.

We left at 4:00 pm. Best trip north in years.

We left at 1:30pm from DC. Great drive. No traffic what so ever!

Yep, we left at 9am (95S to Richmond) and it was a great trip.

When is everyone heading home. We were thinking of leaving Richmond at 2-3pm Saturday. WDYT?

Sounds like traffic in general just wasn't as bad this year? More people staying home?

Won't be great, but will be a million times better than Sunday.

Traffic today on 95s down to DC is horrible. Avoid if possible.

We left the Philadelphia area on Saturday around noon for our return trip. Traffic started backing up around Perryville (Route 222). We got off of 95s and took Route 40 down to White Marsh (Route 43) which connects to 95S toll lanes or regular lanes. Route 40 has some lights but it moves a pretty good pace. We made it in just under 3 hours from Philly to Bethesda.

We use google maps to keep an eye on the 95s traffic and once we see it start to back up we jump off on to 40.

We came down last night around 8. Smooth sailing from NYC to DC? Wonder how Sunday is? We wanted to stay longer but feared the Sunday traffic post Thanksgiving.

Just did north New Jersey to Falls Church in 4 1/2 hours (normally 4). Minor delays at points.

Just did Southern NJ to Falls Church -- leaving NJ around 11 am, got back around 2:30 pm -- so about 20 min more than normal.

95 was slow thru Delaware and Maryland, but still moving around 40 mph. Got off 95 right after the Baltimore tunnel and got on 295 south -- that moved pretty fast, though I could see it backing up going northbound.

I have a feeling traffic gets slower all afternoon on Sunday and then improves by 8-9 pm as most people presumably are home by then.
