Why is school open on Wednesday?

From another thread, different school schedules throw off all of the specialist's schedules. So if FCPS is trying to save money and be most effective, what's with all the partial weeks and half days? Don't we have enough disruption with the snow days?

I think it's one of those days that they know lots of kids will be gone, but it isn't a federal holiday and you have to account for snow days. But, like PPs said, if it were closed Wed you'd have people wondering why they can't be closed Tues or the whole week.

We should be in school on December 24th. Why give the day before a holiday off anyway? I'm from here so I could care less about people who might have to travel anyway.

If school is open, my kid is most likely there. I can think of maybe 2 days in 4+ years that we took her out for travel purposes.
