Opinions on these names please

I don't understand how Calla can be "clunky".

People here are way too conservative in their names. All of these names are on trend and won't sound weird at all to our childrens' generation.

I like Milo and Silas best of the boys names, followed by Jasper.

Aria, Willa, or Serena for a girl.

I'm guessing that OP was born in the late 80s. These names are so so bad.

(Katarina or Ekaterina is called Katya. No babies in the Russian speaking country where I live have Katya on their birth certificate).

Um, probably. My parents did. I'm named for my great-grandmother, so her parents did, too.

Jasper - are ya British? it's okay. If you're American, seems better suited for a dog. If in the UK, it's fine
Milo - HATE
Aris - HATE

Lyra "lee-ra" - not good, not awful
Willa - awful
Aria - not good
Calla - clunky, not good
Katya - are ya Russian? or a former prima ballerina? if so, it's fine.
Serena - ugly

This. Also the boys are painfully hipster-ish, trying too hard. Just awful. Also, while I actually like Katya, it's a nickname really. Maybe Katarina, and call her Katya.

Silas -- okay
Jasper -- yuck
Milo -- "Look at me! I'm a hipster!"
Aris -- DOuble yuck

Lyra "lee-ra" -- I would pronounce Lie-ra, since that's how you pronounce the constellation Lyra
Willa -- I actually kind of like this, as a literature nerd
Aria -- yuck
Calla -- meh
Katya -- Not crazy about it as a given name, but it's not totally awful
Serena -- fine

Trying too hard to what?

Also, what constitutes trying hard enough, or not trying hard enough?

Sorry you're getting so much hate, OP. I like both your lists very much!

Boys:

Silas: love!
Jasper: like
Milo: love!
Aris: not sure about this one

Girls:

Lyra "lee-ra": think you're asking for mispronunciations
Willa: love!
Aria: love!
Calla: like
Katya: like
Serena: like

Hate? This is not hate. Millennials are such delicate flowers.

Only Milo and Serena. The rest sound like you're deliberately going for obscurity or something. Milo and Serena are at least fairly common. I know a bunch of Milos under age 5 and a couple of Serenas.

You might be surprised out how common some of these names are now. (Aria, I'm looking at you.):

Girls
#31 Aria
#455 Serena
#549: Willa
(not in top 1000: Calla, Katya, Lyra)

Boys
#137 Silas
#218 Jasper
#311 Milo
(not in top 1000: Aris)
