My Husband Is Getting A Little Porky

Tell him his penis is starting to look smaller under his big belly! This is commonly called "Dick Do Disease", which is when your belly sticks out further than your dick do.

My husband cuts out his bowl of ice cream and walks around the block. Within 2 weeks he's back to where he wants to be.

He is 50 and has the metabolism of a teenage boy. Always has, always will. Thankfully, our kids appear to take after him.

I have always had the metabolism of a post menopausal woman unfortunately. (I'm not even menopausal yet!). Makes dinner planning interesting....

He, in typical guy fashion, decided he wanted to lose some weight and promptly lost 40 pounds by eating better and hitting the gym. He's a pretty motivated guy, but frankly I thought he lost too much weight. He's back up to about 200/205, and looks great. Maybe your husband just doesn't realize what he looks like? Appealing to their vanity usually works, in my experience.

I'm glad that your husband decided to take action! I hope he stabilizes in the norma zone soon (I'm sure he will).

It's hilarious you mention this though because my husband HAS expressed disbelief upon seeing some recent beach pictures of himself. Still no action... lol.

Ha, I also work.

But I don't see how that is relevant?

If I don't buy them, he'll pick one up on the way home for the subsequent morning's breakfast...

You have to convince him in a way that makes HIM want to be active about it and feel like he got there on his own, rather than being cajoled or manipulated into it. My DH is flat-out obese (6', 280-300 pounds), I've tried everything offered here, and it makes no difference to him. I'm concerned he will keel over and leave me as a single parent to three little ones, but there is only so much YOU can do to control HIS actions.

Ok, well, make him do that then. Don't enable him to eat unhealthy food.

Start poking his stomach and then making the Pillbury Doughboy noise. He'll get the picture...

In terms of the jawline...my H had a definite jaw when we met but as he got older his face rounded naturally. Nothing to do with gaining weight. It happened to his younger brother too, and he is a very healthy eater and goes to the gym almost every day.

I would kind of doubt it is just one thing like one sweet pastry.

How is his diet during the day? Have you calculated his calories? Is he eating stuff that you don't know about or in larger quantities than you expect?

I am 5'11". Was 160 when I got married and crept up to 170 over 10 years. When I realized it, decided to go the other way and put on more muscle. Now 5 years later I am a very solid 180 but with lower body fat than I had at 160. I feel great and wife says I look great.

Key for me was cutting back on cardio (which isn't really that great for burning calories) and starting high intensity barbell work at the gym. Also upped my protein intake. Don't ever eat french fries or chips but otherwise haven't cut ice cream or sweets.

What she said. Exactly what she said.
