My Husband Is Getting A Little Porky

Anonymous
I can tend towards porky if I don't watch it. My wife usually offers me time to go to the gym, play sports, etc. That is key for men with a desk job, to get active. Perhaps you could offer it - hey babe, if you want to go to the gym before/after work, I am totally cool watching the kids.

Make it about his health. Also, perhaps you could tell him that thinking of him working out makes you horny. Sex is a great motivator.

He has to understand that his metabolism is slowing down, and he can't eat the quantity and quality of foods he is used to.

My husband is the same way. Eats a midnight snack ice cream every single day, and now at 50 has the belly to show for it. However I think I got through to him yesterday, when I looked more than a little repulsed when he got undressed. he said he would lay off the midnight snack.

Thought he was getting a chubby mistress.

Count calories. 1500 a day, no more. As much protein as possible. He will lose weight.

OP here:

Even though for whatever reason it's a little easier for me to stay slim, I will start to adopt the lifestyle of someone who has to work a little harder for it: I'll adopt a gym routine (I currently rarely go), I'll cook in more nights instead of us going out, etc. I'll invite DH along and see if he is influenced positively by my own health kick.

I'll report back!

My wife went from 125 (when dating) and now at about 175 after 15 years married. This is sooo NOT attractive! Let me know how you convince your porky husband to lose the fat.

It seems that some people just don't care enough about their own appearance to actually lose weight. And that really sucks for us spouses who find this very unattractive.

Post a picture of Chris Hemsworth on the refrigerator and maybe that will do the trick.

Has he seen any recent pictures of himself? My husband was totally cool with being 6'3" and 235 lbs until he saw a picture of himself sitting on the couch with some belly rolls. He, in typical guy fashion, decided he wanted to lose some weight and promptly lost 40 pounds by eating better and hitting the gym. He's a pretty motivated guy, but frankly I thought he lost too much weight. He's back up to about 200/205, and looks great. Maybe your husband just doesn't realize what he looks like? Appealing to their vanity usually works, in my experience.

My DH is 6 ft and has ballooned from 160 to 185 in 8 years of marriage. Unacceptable.

So who buys the sugary breakfast pastries? Explain to them those are basically candy bars and stop buying them.

I bet you don't have any problem spending his chunky money while he is working all day and you are.............

And most adults should cut back to 1500 mg of salt. Cutting both will prevent hypertension and will totally reshape food choices and body.

OP, the bmi calculator (https://www.bing.com/search?q=bmi+calculator&PC=U316&FORM=CHROMN ) puts your DH at 25.8. Overweight is 25 to to 29, obesity is 30 and up, so it's great to nip it in the bud now!
