We have used the Libbey Gibraltar glasses for years -- they are heavy and can really take a beating. But they're not often mistaken for french antiques, so there's definitely a downside... |
No, I once saw a thread titled: "Where can I buy sheets? I'm at a loss." |
Most of the answers have been for national chains: W&S, Ikea, World Market, Pottery Barn. It's not rocket science to go to one or more of these stores and pick up a few glasses. |
And yet here you are, participating in this nonsensical thread that is so beneath your level of intelligence and interest? ![]() |
Sturdy, it is. |
Sorry, but they work for me. I've had my set for about 15 years and there are chips in maybe 3 of the glasses (out of a set of 18) but none have broken. And they've been through many a gaming day and house party. |
Oh yes and as for style, I significantly prefer these to the horribly ugly spinster aunt glasses from Macys. I would never pay actual money for those. |
i'm here participating because i read a thread title that suggested that either (a) the OP wanted to drink out of (?) glasses before purchasing them or (b) she can't figure out on her own where to buy some glasses (and doesn't understand that any brick and mortar store selling them would of course let you feel them). in other words, i'm here to make fun of OP. and here i am. WHEE! |
I'd suggest some home-made glasses to go with the home-made wine. |
At least you admit that your being a jerk... |
I have these and I hate them. They break quite easily. I don't buy that they are tempered glass. I am going to replace them with Duralex. |
my being a jerk what? |
Macy's or C&B. |
Me too! OP didn't know that PB or IKEA sell drinking glasses? |
You simply won't find commercially-available glassware that meets your requirements of elegance plus utility.
When I had the same issue, a thought struck me - the ingredients of glass are cheap and widely available! Sand, lime, some other minor additives. A kiln from amazon, a few you tube videos, and I got to work. it took a few months to perfect my technique, but I have discovered a real knack for it. My gas bills have exploded, but now I laugh whenever a guest breaks a glass. "Roger", I say, "fire up the kiln!". I run out back and blow out a few spectacular glasses every bit as worthy as those of Murano. I suggest you do the same. |
