Please post back about it--I am out of town but would have attended.

It was really beautiful. Thousands were in attendance. There were a lot of speakers, but they all did really well, even the students who got up to speak. There were some very funny moments, as Dr. D would have liked. There are a number of news outlets that covered it and I think all of them did a lovely, concise write-up with some quotes of the speakers.

I realize this just happened, but anyone know what plans are in place to keep things running for start of school? Is there an interim principal? Very sad situation, and he leaves a wonderful legacy.

I just read the link and saw an assistant principal will act as interim principal. Anyone know anything about her? Tough job under these circumstances.

She has been at Wootton for years as a teacher, then an RT and finally as an AP a few years back. There will be no issues with continuity while they search for a permanent principal.

Maybe she will become the principal?

What was the cause of death?
May he rest in peace. He must have suffered from extreme job stress, considering how caring he was and the recent Wootton nightmare.

Prayers for his family. The Wootton community ought not forget them. This man's death came way too early...

Anyone know cause of death?

Perhaps job-related stress?

I don't know but I would guess heart attack from unknown heart disease.

Same thing happened to Moses Malone last week. there were no warning signs, truly silent killer with women being more at risk for this than men.

You can be a triathlete and still be taken down by heart disease.

You do understand that extreme stress is a classic ingredient in fatal heart attacks? And no, Dr. Doran was not an extreme athlete, but he was a relatively young man in excellent physical health.

A relatively young man? Relative to what? He was 64 years old. Guess what is the second leading cause of death among white men aged 55-64? Yes, you're right! It's heart disease.

He had not been feeling well in the days leading up to the death and didn't go on a family trip because of it. He was found unresponsive on his couch.
