Me too. Strong woman.

I like her too. Much better role model than others in the music arena like Beyonce, Miley Cyrus, or a plethora of others.

Hahahaha

Uh, that line is sarcastic.

Unfortunately, it's not.

You were right the first time with grow ups.

These "adults" need to grow up if they're buying tickets to see Taylor Swift.

lol - That will take all of 5 minutes to write the lyrics.

Anonymous wrote:Unlike many/MOST pop stars - Taylor Swift writes the majority of her songs and collaborates on the development of the song progression; she promotes the work of other artists; engages the business practices of the INDUSTRY (remember the capitulation of Apple and its decision to not any ANYTHING to artists for their music) and her not going in lockstep with Spotify just to name the headline actions.) She is politically and socially active and does not stand aloof from her fans (insert the names any number of too-cool-to-acknowledge-stars who cannot be bothered) and arguing that it is for building her brand how is that different (except being NICE) than other 'artists' and the provocative acts they take - not to forget this is not just art but a fast-changing industry model. I think she is a smart business woman as well as an artist who has evolved from a studio driven success (when she was just a young kid) as a country balladeer to her now pop-centered approach. You can find her annoying, not like her music, or her (really?) looks but her continued success - whether it is brilliantly finessed through a well executed marketing plan or from the worldwide appeal and popularity of her music but dang - shes a genuine and self-generated success and she is all of 25. I often laugh at myself for being for the very first time a real FAN (waaaay too old!) but for someone who came from a pretty normal/mid-to upper-middle class suburban family life to extreme success/$$$/fame at such a very young age I have nothing but admiration for her.

5 minutes? Really? Are you a songwriter? You are really clueless about the music industry.

Like some of her music. Her new album is growing on me even though I didn't like it at first. Overall, she has become more annoying in recent years, but seeing her grow up has been interesting.

I totally agree. Very talented, a true original and does amazing things for fans.

Disagree. She has painted herself as the victim in many failed relationships and then perpetuates the drama with her music. Someday she will look back and cringe.

As we all tend to do about our 20s. Thank god I'm not now/wasn't famous in my 20s. And it's not like she got famous from a sex tape of a guy peeing on her.

You miss her point. She doesn't take herself seriously.

Gotta agree. If you compare her to other girls/young women her age, she's a class act. No sex tapes; nice, self-deprecating personality; great clothes in her off time (classic, cute, and non-trashy); and yes - talent. She's no Miley Cyrus, Nicki Minaj, or interchangeable Kardashian.

I do wish her songs weren't usually about how some guy or other did her wrong, but hopefully she's moving away from that. I think many of her lyrics are downright catchy and clever. I think she's a fine role model for my tween daughter.

PP here; forgot to mention I saw her on SNL years ago and she was hilarious!

9:11 - I love you.

I'm personally meh about her though I do appreciate the image and career she has crafted and seemingly stayed true to. I wouldn't be at all upset if my DD were a fan, but DD is similarly meh about TS.

My middle-aged husband, on the other hand, is a super fan, in an honestly non-creepy way.

Shake If Off by Swift -

I stay up too late, got nothing in my brain
That's what people say mmm, that's what people say mm
I go on too many dates, but I can't make 'em stay
At least that's what people say mmm, that's what people say mmm

But I keep cruising, can't stop, won't stop moving
It's like I got this music in my body and it's gonna be alright

'Cause the players gonna play, play, play, play, play
And the haters gonna hate, hate, hate, hate, hate
Baby, I'm just gonna shake, shake, shake, shake, shake
I shake it off, I shake it off

Heartbreakers gonna break, break, break, break, break
And the fakers gonna fake, fake, fake, fake, fake
Baby, I'm just gonna shake, shake, shake, shake, shake
I shake it off, I shake it off

Entre Nous by Rush - Yes, I'm comparing rock (older rock) to pop, but clearly there's a difference in just how much energy was put into the lyrics.

We are secrets to each other
Each one's life a novel no one else has read
Even joined in bonds of love
We're linked to one another by such slender threads

We are planets to each other
Drifting in our orbits to a brief eclipse
Each of us a world apart
Alone and yet together like two passing ships

Just between us, I think it's time for us to recognize
The differences we sometimes fear to show
Just between us, I think it's time for us to realize
The spaces in between leave room for you and I to grow

We are strangers to each other
Full of sliding panels, an illusion show
Acting well rehearsed routines or playing from the heart?
It's hard for one to know

There's this girl that's been on my mind
All the time, Sussudio oh oh
Now she don't even know my name
But I think she likes me just the same
Sussudio oh oh

Oh if she called me I'd be there
I'd come running anywhere
She's all I need, all my life
I feel so good if I just say the word
Sussudio, just say the word
Oh Sussudio

Now I know that I'm too young
My love has just begun
Sussudio oh oh
Ooh give me a chance, give me a sign
I'll show her anytime
Sussudio oh oh

Ah, I've just got to have her, have her now
I've got to get closer but I don't know how
She makes me nervous and makes me scared
But I feel so good if I just say the word
Sussudio just say the word
Oh Sussudio, oh

Ah, she's all I need all of my life
I feel so good if I just say the word
Sussudio I just say the word
Oh Sussudio I just say the word
Oh Sussudio I'll say the word
Sussudio oh oh oh
Just say the word

Ha, yes! Many of us on this board are damn lucky we weren't songwriters in our teens and 20s. Our songs would have been no different!
