Yes, it is. Same at Rehobeth. Some lady's dog was sniffing around me and my blanket and I told her that he dogs aren't allowed on the beach and at least she could put it on a leash. She just stared at me. Entitled assholes...

There are leash laws and they should be followed. I have two dogs and they are always on leash in public. Owners do not get to decide if the law applies to them, it does. This is how America works!

People shouldn't speed or jaywalk either. But guess what they do. My dog is much happier and smarter than your dogs.

Except people aren't so self-righteous about their speeding or jay-walking. If you get ticketed, you accept it. Meanwhile if someone calls you out on your unleashed dog or reports you, get ready to hear all about how smart and friendly their dog is! I'll just report you and you can deal with it.

Very odd reaction. Aren't you the one being sefl-righteous?

With few exceptions (and there are highly trained dogs that are exceptions) dogs should not be running around off leash outside of a dog park "greeting" people and other dogs. Even super friendly dogs can scratch and trip people, get in front of bikes causing them to wreck, get hit by cars...they don't even have to be big dogs to cause a problem.

Even a highly trained dog should be leashed, no matter how well trained - unless at a dog park- an unleashed dog can be intimidating - to other dogs and to people.

Yup, I don't hesitate to report an unleashed dog. EVER!

I also don't hesitate to report the assholes bringing their dogs to a fenced in playground. I don't give a rats ass that you think you are killing two birds with one stone (walking the dog and the kid). There are huge signs stating that dogs are not allowed inside the fence. If you don't have time for one of the other, that's your problem not mine. Explain to the police.

Yes, this.

OP, what have you done about this person? She needs to be punished.

No. I'm not trying to defend breaking rules. If someone minds and expresses their discomfort with my breaking rules, then I'll follow them. The smart-happy-dog PP suggests s/he won't do that.

Don't even get me started on people letting their dogs run around public tennis courts, also against the very clearly posted rules. So obnoxious. Look, dog people, there are so many of you so just go fund more dog parks or whatever. Maybe establish dog county clubs. But stop taking over public spaces dedicated to other uses!

I don't understand all the anger towards dogs and dog owners. You all are filled with irrational fears. I wouldn't want to be:

* your child
* your relative
* your boyfriend or girlfriend
* your neighbor
* your friend (if you have any)
* your co-worker
* your boss
* anyone who works for you

It really doesn't matter how you FEEL about it. The law is there to protect those to disagree with you and the way you FEEL things should be done. I KNOW that if you want to change the law, you can petition your government. Until then, please don't feel sorry for us. Just know that you will be fined for not complying with the law just like you would be for speeding and various other things.

I don't remember using the word "feel"? If you ask me how I feel, I will say, I feel joy at watching my dog run around.
In Central Park in NYC dogs are allowed off leash during cetain hours. They should do the same in this area.

Your post made it clear how you feel about the people expressing frustration about unleashed dogs. Until they change the rules here, please just follow them. Do you respect the rules in Central Park during the hours when dogs are required to be leashed??? Hope so.

I feel a great amount of joy from not having my toddler knocked down to the ground by your "friendly" dog. I also don't let my toddler jump on other people on the metro for example to lick them or to hug them. Why is your dog more important than my kid?
