Leash your dogs PLEASE!

I had another run-in with them this morning and felt the need to post something where other owners could see it. Maybe she reads it! I don't know. Either way, glad to see people on board.

I am also a huge dog lover and I agree that dogs should be leashed (almost always). I walk my dog some places without a leash, but not where there are people around.

Sorry, I hope this experience isn't making you think we are all entitled assholes.

I have a giant breed, and to me it's important to keep her on leash at all times, mostly to protect her. She can easily knock someone over, or hurt them without meaning to, in which case we're liable.

As you should be, because knocking someone over is an actual problem for the person who was knocked over.

This sort of thinking is why people think dog owners are entitled assholes. (And I am a dog owner.)

If a dog is going to or has the potential to harm someone....biting, growling, jumping, knocking over, then you need to leash. Not every dog needs to be on a leash.

Include sniffing anyone innapropriately, nuzzling a stranger, or sticking a paw on a person uninvited (translation, acting like a "friendly" dog)

ALL dogs need to be on leashes in public places. Period. Even the ones the owner deems friendly and not just the ones showing aggressive behaviors like you listed.

So yes, YOU pp need to leash your friendly dog.

NP here. About 80% of my experiences with dog owners make me believe they are entitled assholes. It's gotten so ridiculous that I am starting to hate dogs and not just their stupid owners.

If your dog is a dog, then it has this potential. Also, if it would touch or interact with anyone in anyway, it needs to be leashed. PP, you sound like one of these dog owners that doesn't have a clue.

Don't blame the dogs! Also, it isn't just dog owners. It's people in general - rude, entitled, selfish.

I don't have to leash my dog because it's a good dog. Sorry angry people

I'd love to but it's tough to "calmly and politely" say or do anything over the sound of the barking, especially while they're raking their nails down my arms.

I'd probably do a little videoing of her and her dogs with my phone as a little proof for the authorities

Actually, on public property, they do. I don't want your dog running up to me for any reason, no matter how friendly you think he is

I was just at Bethany beach and people had their dogs on the unleashed. Isn't that prohibited?

+1
Especially if she's a regular--you could have a whole series!
And for those of you who say your dog doesn't need a leash: the only dog that doesn't need a leash is one that NEVER approaches another person or animal unless its owner gives permission. That level of training exists, but is very, very rare.

There Re lots of dogs that don't have interest in other people or dogs. Sometimes that's not training, it's personality

Whatever. That is the tiny minority of dogs and you still look like an asshole walking your unleashed dog around.
