Nope, he wanted to be able to call Fox News and complain about the liberals.

Interesting that this is your response given that the article is from the Daily Mail.
Perhaps the associate didn’t know what the ISIS flag looks like. Perhaps s/he did.
Who knows. The manager claims it was ignorance on the part of the employee.
I think it is pretty sad that there are people in the US who don’t know what the ISIS flag looks like given they have beheaded our citizens and threatened to strike the US.
It’s not like this hasn’t been on the news.

they must not read the news at all, or barely even watch television if they don't know what the flag looks like. But, in all honesty, it is NOT an "ISIS" flag. It is just a replica of the flag (aka "black standard") that was carried by Muhammad during his conquests. It simply says: “There is no god but God, Muhammad is the messenger of God.” - the white circle represents the seal of Muhammad.

One of my neighbors has one of these flags hanging in the back of their SUV.

I read the A section of the Washington Post cover to cover virtually every day. I read the New Yorker weekly. I read the Sunday NYT. Now that Verizon no longer offers the Weather Channel, I don't watch any TV news, ever. I suspect I know more than most Americans about current national and international events. I haven't the foggiest idea what the ISIS flag looks like.

I am like you, I consume the same news. So I guess neither of us could get a job in a minimum wage bakery store

That your media leaves you completely ignorant. And that's clearly OK. There is print media that shows what's going on the ME and includes photos with the ISIS flag in them. Even *gasp* in the NYT!! I know you want to show your smarts and superiority, but frankly, if you can't identify this flag, you are neither.

Why? Why does it matter what the ISIS flag looks like? I just googled the ISIS flag and feel no more enlightened about ISIS than I did before. But if it helps you to understand the situation, I'm glad you know what it looks like.

Since I can read Arabic and the flag is pretty new, I don't recognize it, it is more like a billboard. Would you be able to recognize it? If I change the text would you notice the difference? Come on, be real.

Exactly. FFS, to someone who can't read the language, what makes the white text on black a flag and the black text on white a sign/banner? Or is the black text on white a flag, too? Do you know? And again, what is your point? The question was asked if it's possible, even likely, that the cake decorator didn't know what he was putting on the cake. Some have said they too wouldn't have known, so it seems plausible to them that he didn't know. Are you arguing that this is implausible? Or are you asserting that if he did know and that this symbol was okay with him but the confederate flag was not so he is a hypocrite? Or...?

Yeah, i see that there is a black banner with some white writing. Let's face it, that writing could say "serenity now" on it, and I would not be able to differentiate it from any other black banner with white squiggly marks on it.

Do you think that no pics of the ISIS flag have been shown in the NYT or the WaPo? Surely you jest.

I can read Arabic - ish. The black and red on white is a sign that says the building is a police station in Nineveh province (or state).
