THANK YOU for your civilized comment!

tacos and sushi are both delicious and completely different. The comparison is bizarre.

Sushi is not delicious to all people. I hate it.

Get this straight chipotle is NOT a Mexican restaurant and no, rice is not a traditional taco filling? Are you Hugh because than this thread should make sense?

Are you stupid? because having Mexican relatives I should know a thing or 2 about mexican food! Yes you can put anything you want in your tacos and that includes rice and most mexicans do that.

Here's a picture if you don't believe me

Point is, why do people like sushi? Is it because it is trendy or do people really like the taste of it

Um, yea. I'm a Latina and I grew up in LA with my Mexican grandma making most of our meals. While you could technically put anything on a taco, rice is not traditional, nor is ground beef authentic Mexican taco filling. Also tacos are nothing like sushi. I agree with pp, you must be high.

Wow most of you posters are SO STUPID and most of YOU CAN'T READ or just JUMP into saying stupid mean or insulting comments! READ FIRST DUMBASSES! I SAID "YOU CAN PUT ANYTHING YOU WANT IN YOUR TACOS". I DID NOT SAY RICE WAS TRADITIONAL. THE STOCK PHOTO IS AN EXAMPLE OF A TACO STUFFED WITH RICE! WHO CARES WHERE IT CAME FROM! DAMN are most of you stupid, dumb, or high on legal DC weed! SOOO comparing the 2 WITH rice included since sushi has rice in it and not always either! I just don't see the acquired taste.

I think most people are puzzled by just how stupid/high you have to be to make a thread comparing sushi and tacos, especially because you mention they have rice in common and that is not a usual ingredient in tacos.

I like sushi, both the traditional stuff you get in japan and some high end restaurants here and the fancy crazy version popular in the u.s.

Tacos I love, hold the rice please, that is a side dish or maybe in a burrito. A burrito incidentally, "little donkey" is the workhorse lunch that you can throw all of your left over in, even traditionally rice.

Hey! And burritos are rolled just like sushi! So there you go!

How is it stupid or high to compare 2 popular dishes and seeing why people favor one or the other better? POSTERS DON'T READ and made it into a rice is not traditional of tacos which it's not. Traditional sushi from Japan IS better than the "fancy crazy version popular in the u.s." and there you go YOU nailed it. Is it great to Americans because it is fancy and popular?

sushi and tacos have nothing in common. Oh wait, they're food?

Sometimes I make "sushi" burritos. By "sushi" I just mean using nori rolls, lines with hummus, vegetables, maybe rice, or whatever. Roll it like a burrito and eat.

Mmmm....

But I like real sushi too - the simple fish kind, not the freakish "GODZILLA ROLLZZZ"

You must not have read where the OP was comparing the two, not because they are popular dishes, but because they both have rice in them so why doesn't s/he like both.

I...what? I guess there are both 'Mexican' and 'sushi' places in food courts. And you are wondering why some people go to the sushi one and eat the rice when they could be having the rice on their tacos? Is this the thought process?

Well. It is actually different rice. And there is no rice in traditional tacos. And, this is going to blow your mind, so proceed carefully - there is often no rice in traditional sushi like sashimi or types of nigiri. I know. It is nuts. Sushi preparers often spend very long times learning hwo to cut the fish perfectly. I do not believe this is true for taco artists. Stick to Chipotle and make it your way and things will be fine. Maybe someday Chipotle will get fish for fish tacos and then you would be even more confused about the people in the sushi line.

LOL! This nicely points out everyone's confusion with the thread.

Tacos vs sushi lady is the new chipotle lady

OP, for what it's worth, suggesting that both sushi and tacos are acquired tastes for everyone is pretty small-minded. I grew up in the American Southwest. Tacos were a taste I acquired at the same time I acquired the ability to eat solid food.

Saying "acquired taste" implies that a person does not like something and gradually comes to like it after repeated exposure. That's not true for everyone in this country, even if it is true for you.

Maybe you'd like to start a thread on other "ethnic" food that might be more exotic? I don't like injera, for example. I'm also not keen on haggis. I don't like lutefisk.

How do you figure I am a lady? I feel like I am speaking to a bunch of juveniles on here and the way most of the posters talk is as if they are back in middle school or the "TOP 5" high school I was in Virginia.
