+1. agree. she's not responsible. but she could have contributed to his pain. we're not islands, what we do impacts people, how can some of you not understand this?

Personally I found the whole ridicule of girls kept in a cellar too close to the bone (in terms of recent news stories) and turned it off in disgust.

Did you stomp your feet, burn your copy of Mean Girls and fire off an angry email as well?

Poor Man. By all accounts he was super nice man. She should feel awful. Making fun of people is a cheap shot and besides, that show is horrible anyway.

Why does Tina Fey get the blame and not Martin Short.

He played Franck in Father of the Bride and based that character of a real person so it could have been his character interpretation.

Agree, can't stand her brand of 'humor.'

Right, and why would anybody feel bad about being a contributing factor to a depressed person's misery?

People might feel bad but who really knows when someone will hit their breaking point? Case in point:

I had no idea that Martin Short's character was a parody of this doctor. I didn't even know who he was until now.

My dh is a dermatologist. The community just lost a very unique personality who was a pioneer in many ways in the use of everyday cosmetic procedures today.

If you look at Brandts website, you see a guy that was in relentless search of beauty. Imagine if you have been surrounded by a community that looked up to you, clients who adored you, and you believed you were beautiful and have devoted your whole life to beauty. However in one tv show you realized you were viewed as a laughing stock and grotesque to many, this probably pushed him over the edge of he was already depressed. Just random thoughts.

She's mean.

+1 I agree with you. If Tina doesn't feel bad about mocking someone's appearance for the money and a laugh, then learning of that person's subsequent suicide, she's pretty cold and heartless. Perhaps her press agent will release an "obligatory statement."

I haven't seen the show. Was the portrayal actually mean, or was it simply a recognizable person?

I didn't think it was mean, and didn't even know the character was based off of a real person. It seemed like they were satirizing a stereotyped overdone and obsessed plastic surgeon.

How is that irony?
