Why does my pork loin smell like feces?

OP here: I grew up on a 'farm' not a 'pig farm'. We had pigs but also had cattle, sheep and chickens in addition to the usual midwester crops (corn, wheat, soybeans). We also had a 3 acre garden, horses, beehives, orchards. With my eyes clothes, I can tell the difference between pig shit, horse shit, pig shit, chicken shit and, of course, bull shit

Pigs are smarter than dogs. I don't eat pork for that reason.

Good god I would never eat pork from Safeway, giant and the like. Dirty, inhumanely raised, bleached apparently.

OP did you like growing up on a farm? My dream is to move to the country so my kids can run free on acres of land. I know that sounds corny but it's how I feel. I would also like to have some animals and a huge garden and bees. Just curious how you feel about it as an adult.

sorry to derail

I don't know if I'd say a dog is a filthy animal but its definitely dirty. Besides, a dog's got personality. Personality goes a long way.
do you eat dog?

Highly enjoyed this thread. Thank you, to the pulp fiction posters, and the "rump roast" poster.

I have noticed this lately with pork I have eaten as well. Started to notice this problem around year 2000. Now this year it's been about every fourth or fifth time I've had pork. I have been having chronic incidents of intestinal upset like I have had perpetual food poisoning but can't nail it down to one particular cause. The thing that baffles me is that even though the odor is quite strong, the other partakers at the table don't even notice. But they are smokers and I don't think their noses are as sensitive as mine.

We don't really think pigs (or dogs) are filthy. I love pigs. They're fun to watch play in the mud, they have great personalities, and they taste good. But it's fun to quote Samuel L Jackson and John Travolta.

Oh. Can we please save the movie-quote responses for Reddit?

I always think I smell poop when I cook pork. That’s why I won’t eat it.
