How do we talk with our teens about 50 Shades?!!

I started reading romance books in 7th grade and erotic stuff in high school. If your kid wants to read it, she'll find a way. My 18 year old senior sister said she was going to watch the movie - didn't read the books- and at first I was like hell no but then, whatever. I've told her it's all fiction and not gross if both parties consent.

I don't think any teen wants to think about their mommy liking getting spanked....

But agree overall it could be a good discussion of boundaries and consent. And a 14 YO and older should know the difference between reality and fantasy.

I was prepared to give my 15 year old a lecture about the movie this morning. Before I had a chance to offer a perspective. he said "I know what the movie is about and I'm not interested in that crap." DH and I were surprised and not surprised that DC has this much sense.

do you explain other porn to your children? I told my dd that it was adult content and trashy at that. She was not old enough to understand and even if she was, she was not going to read the book until she was on her on. I am the parent.
