Careful. Jeff won't like it if you validate my "trivial" point.

What if a white guy hated black people and posted all over facebook about it, and then got in an argument with three black people about a parking spot. And then shot them all, wouldn't you think bigotry/hate had something to do with the crime? Or is it just a coincidence that he killed the type of people he hated?

Well, you know, they were executed. So.

As a matter of fact, my years of dealing with incidents precisely like the one you describe would, in fact, cause me to wait until I knew all of the facts before jumping to any conclusions. You might consider doing the same.

My entire post was asking a question. Not stating an opinion. You're jumping to a conclusion yourself by assuming you know my opinion about this.

It was a red herring and a straw man question, so you'll forgive me for finding your "who me?" attitude now to be disingenuous.

A parking dispute and religious hatred are not mutually-exclusive. I sort of get your obsession with the term "execution-style" killing because you may think I am comparing it to the beheadings that have received so much publicity. That was not my intention. To me, when three unsuspecting and defenseless people are shot at point-blank range inside their own home, "execution-style" is an appropriate description.

Yet, a parking dispute does not necessarily warrant the "war on Islam" cries. You gotta get tired of this at some point!

This is sarcasm, right?

Not PP, but this is not political. It was a crazy nut with a short temper. Had it been 3 white/black/hispanic people he would have done the same. He lost it over parking.

horrible story. Interesting how everyone is quick to question and defend and politicize situations based on your worldview. The Fort Hood shooting is a religious terrorist attack to some, a mental health breakdown to others. Or the issue with the factory killing (oklahoma?). Now this.

I think in all of these situations, its best to take a deep breath and wait before guessing the facts.

This shooter was a bad guy. He clearly had an issue with ALL religions. Not sure if the fact that the victims here were Muslims had anything to do with it. They could have been orthodox jews or mormon missionaries. Guy was unhinged and shouldn't have had a gun.

I have not mentioned anything close to a "war on Islam". The alleged killer was very open about his anti-religious views. Given that two of those killed could easily be identified as practicing Muslims by their style of dress, you would have to be particularly obtuse to ignore the implications. Again, if the roles and been reversed and three non-Muslims had been killed by a Muslims whose Facebook page was full of ravings about non-Muslims, none of you would be rushing to blame this on a parking dispute.

This seems inconsistent with your arguments that ISIS is not motivated by religion. You're arguing on one hand that ISIS has nothing to do with religious hatred, but on the other hand that these poor people were killed by religious hatred.

This. The question is, why do we let loonies buy guns.

unfortunately, the OP has some blind spots in this regard. Cannot have it both ways.

Have you ever lived in a condominium complex? People take parking pretty seriously.
