I am sure that if this incident had been a Muslim killing three white non-Muslims you would be equally blasé, correct?

If? And yes, I have been. Not about the killings. About some folks' incessant need to politicize every single event as long as it fits their narrative.

But this DID have a narrative.

Jeff, I need to take you to task over your subject line. I'm going to guess maybe you didn't read the story you posted closely enough, but your use of the phrase "execution style" to describe the shootings is baseless and inflammatory.

If you read the story again, no on in authority makes that comparison. Rather, it is an allegation hurled by people reacting to the murders on Facebook and other social media. To wit: "The shooting has been met with an outpouring of anger on social media, where people posting new pictures of the victims studying and playing basketball claimed they had been “murdered execution style”.

You're smart enough to know the imagery "execution style" evokes -- on their knees, gun to the temple. There's no actual evidence of fact that the slayings happened this way. Not from police, not from a medical examiner. It's merely the claim of some angry person on social media reacting to the news. You really should delete the use of those words in your subject line.

That seems like an extremely trivial point to argue, but the first article to which I linked said this:

"Sources told local WRAL News that all three had been shot in the head."

If that does not sound like executions to you, I will concede the point. The important aspect is not whether they were on their knees, but that that they were premeditatively murdered.

Sources also told CNN the SCOTUS overturned Obamacare

Sources told Time that Libyans were behind the Lockerbie bombing.

Sources told the Atlanta Constitution-Journal that Richard Jewell was the focus of the FBI's investigation into the Olympic Park bombing.

Dallas radio station KLIF kept going back and forth over whether or not JFK was dead, citing sources.s

The New York Times, citing fake telegraphs, reported the Titanic didn't sink at all.

And, of course, Dewey defeated Truman. As we all know.

I'm a former journalist. Be very skeptical of what news organizations claim "sources" tell them immediately after a horrific incident.

Awful, awful. Some people are so ignorant.

Inna lillah wa inna ileihi ragi3oon.

Very sad. The shooter is my age, and those who were killed are young enough to be my children. I think of them as children. My heart breaks for their families.

The AP is now reporting it was over a parking dispute, but I guess we can keep it in "Political Discussion" and make it about gun control. Another white American male with anger management problems with easy access to a gun. Sad.

Exactly. They were targeted b/c they were Muslim. These people were "executed" no matter where they shot. The gunman carried out a death sentence.

Careful. Jeff won't like it if you validate my "trivial" point.

As with many other situations no matter the political/religious views and/or ethnicity of the victims / perpetrator, this is looking more and more like a specific scenario. Could anything be more local than parking issues? No need to politicize this.
