Familiar with West Chester, PA ? Possibly relocating

OP here

Hoping former West Chester folks are available for giving some advice

My DH is driving up tomorrow, his first time in W.C. He is going to scope out neighborhoods, schools, downtown. (I am staying home bc of kids activities).

Can you please give me a few places that are your favorites in town? Favorite neighborhoods (I found some nice houses in Fern Hill, off New St.), but unsure what surrounding areas are like.

he is a "glass is half empty" kinda guy. So I'm hoping for the best impression

Thanks in advance! !

Enthusiastic poster here again. I hope your husband has a good trip. I'd look at the development off 5 PTA road, nussbaumer farms. There are a lot of choices. By fern hill/new st is lovely. (Btw, downtown is called the borough). I don't really know your price ranges though, so I'd feel bad saying to many specifics. The neighborhood between Strasbourg and Ellis ln is very well established, built I. The 70s. Are you looking for newer houses?

For food, have him eat at DK diner (breakfast/lunch only), in the borough. And peppermills on Paoli pike.

Stop at the historical society and pick up some fun west chester souvenirs for the kids

We are in the early stages of doing our homework on the area. My husband is in cyber forensics, I am a SAHM. So he's looking for a job in that area.

He's not a city guy, so Philly proper is out (for work and home). There are a few jobs with QVC. Any knowledge on how it is to work there? Any place to stay away from?

It's our first relocation, so any information is very appreciated!

I already startrd a spreadsheet on the info you guys already shared!

I have a friend who works at QVC. She's been there for years and likes it. They live in a lovely house in WC, but I don't know the name of the neighborhood. It's an older house that they renovated, not a new house. And it's on a very large lot.

NP here piggybacking on this post. Can anyone comment on what the commute is like from West Chester to Reading?

One of the PPs from WC. I wouldn't do that commute. It's 45 minutes to an hour without traffic.

I'd add in the neighborhoods off Boot Road, which are so close to QVC.

Neighborhoods behind Goshen are very active & family-friendly. Older homes though.

How is the commute from West Chester to Bala Cynwyd?

Anyone familiar with Susquehanna International Group? How are they to work for?

Our price range is around 600k.

He didn't make the trip yesterday, but is definitely going up next Saturday.
