She/He is just going to throw away the condoms in his wallet so he will not have sex.

Gun culture doesn't start with nerf guns!

It starts with making a gun out of your thumb and forefinger and yelling "Pew! Pew! You're dead!"

Because birth control leads to sex. Wait, I was actually taught that in high school 30 years ago.

OP - we hate guns, too. Never bought DS any type of gun, but then he got one as a gift when he was about 5 or so. Now, at 10, he has a bin full, all gifts. But even before he got them, he would use anything as a gun. So, we couldn't stop it. Instead, we taught him about guns, not to shoot the nerf gun at the face (including his own as he sometimes would look down the barrel of it with a foam bullet inside). We don't let him take it out to the park. Just in the house and backyard.

This might be a good learning opportunity to explain to DS that guns can hurt people.

I feel sorry for your husband

If you don't let your poor kid have this Nerf gun he'll probably still use sticks and legos as "guns". Boys will be boys.

Are you kidding me? It's the WORD gun that's bad? OMG.

Another total fan of the nerf gun here.

Congrats OP, your son won't be singled out as the weird kid now.

I can't see why you're mad either (and I'm a woman).

Well, I didn't really like the idea of them at first, but he got one at 8 and dh now plays with the kids a lot more, which I'm grateful for, so we now have 4 more in the house.

OP, look...my Dh, who is as much of a peacenik as they come, played with Army Men and toy guns as a kid. You just can't correlate "gun culture" with childhood playthings. You really just can't. Guns are guns. Toys like nerf guns are not gun culture.
