Yes, but she has been the executive of a state...he was barely a senator...and from his first 30 days you can tell he has no clue how to get things done in Washington...and the census grab is very scary. |
The "state" in question has the population of DC minus the diversity. Even Adrian Fenty would be more qualified to be VP/Pres than the governor with the misplaced overconfidence. |
No clue how to get things done? He just signed a nearly $800 billion stimulus bill that was remarkably similar to what he asked for in the beginning. BTW, the bill includes what may turn out to be the biggest tax cut in US history. All but three of those tax-hating Republicans will need to explain to their constituents why they voted against tax cuts. Obama has out maneuvered the Republicans so completely that they are left hoping for economic disaster because Obama will get credit for any recovery. It's very hard to run on a platform of hoping for economic collapse. Yet, that is where Obama has the Republicans right now. I'll take that kind of clueless leadership any day of the week. |
Yeah, Sarah Palin was good at making a speech....one! Which she made over and over. |
?????? What? |
Wow, you're really an angry person, and you might want to get your eyes checked. Palin is far from fat. Furthermore, in a matter of months, she went from a virtual unknown to a household name and is on the verge of becoming a millionaire with her book deal. Regardles of your politics, she doesn't sound like an idiot either. |
Fat can be used to define idiot - meaning she's not just a little idiot. Her idiocy is large, and with each new book deal or interview, it just becomes larger - much like the blob. FWIW, Paris Hilton also wrote a book, and she, too, is an idiot. Furthermore, it's the idiots who are buying these books, thus helping to make these woman rich. So the idiots feed off each other. |

And while to you Palin may not sound like an idiot based on one's politics, she definitely sounds like one based on one's IQ. But you go ahead putting stock in her having gone to a virtual unknown to a household name in a matter of months. And her pending million dollar book deal. Of course these are the singular, defining characteristics that we value in our leaders. You should head up Jerry Springer's presidential exploratory committee for 2011. |
Oh lord can please tell me someone in Washington understands economics..applied economics. The 800 billion plan is notttttttttttttttttt a stimulus plan and the Democrats know it--it's not supposed to stimulate anything since only a tiny portion is even applied to actual short term stimulus. This plan is a grab bag of every liberal pet project--even the roads and bridges which sound nice will not get into the system for several years so can't really be defined as stimulus to get the economy going. By the way, many states already have money allocated for said road and bridges plans and are stuck in the planning stages which can take years. Think of the Wilson Bridge and how much time it took to get it from planning to actually building. The Tax cuts mostly send checks to people who do not pay taxes and are also people who are not going to be buying homes, cars etc. anytime soon. When you are talking about stimulating things--this is not the group to bet your future on.
I am hopeful moderate democrats will be clued into some really nice put ins like forcing states to change their welfare policies if they accept this "stimulus" plan--we will now be going completely backward. If we wanted to stimulate the economey short term we would do things like.. Give tax breaks to anyone buying a car and I do mean anyone because people who are already in a good financial position would be more inclined to go out and buy one right now or to give home incentives to anyone who wanted to buy a house--maybe use money to securitize loans for people who already have good credit. Why are we not rewarding people who have lived conservately no matter what their income is? I am sad because I feel like our country is completely losing it. |
If you are a Republican, you ought to be scared. Obama has an amazing ability to get things done -- mostly under the radar. Republicans may be seething about the "stimulus" bill, but he got it through despite their opposition. Snipe and gripe, but you're foolish to underestimate him. Hillary Clinton didn't take him seriously as an opponent. She's taking him seriously now. |
guys, give sarah palin a break. op: look at your own life. i'm sure you are FAR perfect. none of us are. |
have you looked at the DOW? we have had the worst day ever on wallstreet... please don't bash the competition. it's not very american. |
I know how you feel. I felt the same way from 2000-2008. |
what??? you are nuts. |
Are conservatives who heard the message of hope, change, transparency supposed to be thrilled about this? Isn't this more of what the Democrats criticized the Bush admin about? |
