S/O What spice/herb can't you stand?

Anonymous
Cilantro.

Chili powder or chili when it smells like BO. Depends on the kind.

What about parsley and sage?

White Pepper. The taste is just like the smell of the elephant cages at the zoo.

Adore cilantro.

Usually hate rosemary

Love everything else listed on this thread.

I love all of these. I spice my food pretty heavily and I'm not sure I've ever met a spice or herb I don't like! I can even deal with asafetida, a pungent Indian spice.

Maybe epazote. I tried that once in beans, fresh, and didn't care for it. But I think I used it improperly so it doesn't count.

Wow. You are right! White pepper is like black pepper that got eaten and pooped out by an emu.

HATE Curry - all kinds. I also don't care for Tumeric.

Cilantro.

Oregano, rosemary and thyme - all are a bit icky to me.

And while I don't find the taste of parsley to be horrible, I think its a total waste of time.

I love cilantro, smoked paprika, basil, cinnamon, and all the common thai and indian spices/curries.

Old bay. Hate it.

All other spices I more or less like. Tarragon most.

Me too. Black pepper ruins a dish for me. So convenient that it is on everything.

Sage.
I just can't stand it. I'm not a huge fan of cinnamon in sweets, but like it in savory dishes.

For those that think that cilantro tastes like soap, there may be a genetic factor in it.

For me, it's the licorice family of tastes, most notably, licorice, anise and fennel (and ouzo, ugh!). I can't eat things with those in it. I can tolerate star anise and tarragon if I have to to be polite.

Me too, but I know so many people for whom cilantro is the devil that I never put it in anything I'm serving to guests. My SIL thinks oregano tastes "like mold" (whatever that means)- I love it. Too much garlic upsets my stomach, but I don't dislike the taste- I just stay away from anything that advertises itself on a menu as garlicky. If garlic is in the name, I will regret eating it. But again, I don't dislike the flavor.
