| So many successful people comment on their good luck in ended up where they did. Some people make what seem to be good choices at the time, but life deals them tough ones. Also, the digital disruption has thrown many folks for a loop. I have so many examples ... Don't tempt fate, OP. You are not exempt from health problems, drunk drivers, wrong place, wrong time crime scene ... |
I am friends with "old money," which is humbling, to say the least. And they would never post on this forum. Old money has too much class to even do a an anonymous brag. |
As a proud conservative, I agree with you on the need for people to make their own success in life. But I'm sorry you are an asshole about what you've achieved. |
| I'm sorry I'm poor too, rich seems better... |
After reading the first half of your post I thought is was going to go the other way. Thought you were going to tell your kid that the american way is to work hard, not stick your hand out, and try to achieve something as opposed to making sure that every single person gets a fair shake regardless of effort. For the record, I am sure there are tons of liberals that drive a GL Mercedes, so not sure how you could tell OP was a republican. Try not to do too much damage to your kid with your liberal, socialist perspective. |
| You can take the douchebag out of the small town, but you can't take the douchebag out of the douchebag. |
I guess I missed the part where PP was going to tell the PP's child about how great the world is when the government nationalizes the means of production. |
The safety net has been expanded. Has this ended homelessness and poverty? Just one example:
The government is not the answer to ending poverty and homelessness. Seems as if expanding the safety net has only expanded the problem. |
Wow that flew over your head like a 747 at altitude. The pp isn't taking issue with the car, but OP's attitude. |
|
I actually don't think this OP is a troll, because he has bragged about this rags to riches story before. I'm embarrassed that I know this, but that's another thread.
OP, I grew up in a trailer and now live in a million dollar home thanks to extremely hard work, student loans, and luck. However in my life I have seen incredible tragedy and I would give every penny away if I could change some of the awful things I have been through as an adult. You're really focusing on the wrong things and as others have noted, you sound like an ass. |
Oh God. This is so embarrassing and nouveau riche. I can't even deal. |
I wonder if there was some significant economic event that happened around 2006 that might have caused lots of people to lose their jobs and need food assistance. |
Does someone make their own success when they pay for school through student loans backed by the Federal government and then take a tax deduction based on the interest paid on the loan? I'm a proud moderate, and I think that we should provide assistance to people so that hey can gain the skills they need to be successful. I think that people who get help need to remember that they benefited from the help provided and should not become asshats like OP. |
You mean 2008/2009? Because things looked pretty stable until then. Oh, yeah, that is when our current administration took office. |
j You're as bad as the OP, just in your own way. Taking troll bait as an invitation to humble brag isn't classy. |
