What is your pool locker room policy?

They're stealing 5 yr old boy clothes?

I have a son and a daughter. I care about both but nudity is less of a concern then molestation.

At the Bethesda YMCA I think the cutoff for boys using the women's locker room is six.

I guess I have a higher opinion of men than you do. I believe that most men would not molest a young boy in a public locker room and I believe that even if a man were to attempt a molestation, another man would step forward. I would feel differently if my son were the only person with another man in a locker room--but in the middle of prime swim lesson time, when the locker rooms are packed--I'm more worried about him changing in a timely manner than someone inappropriately touching him.

I have a 7 yr old girl and a 4 yr old boy. When the 7 yr old boy mom brings the her 7 yr old into the womens locker room to change him and he sees my 7 yr daughter naked, it's uncomfortable. It's worse when the boy screams "I saw you naked" the next day on the school playground.

You haven't had much exposure to life. I have heard too much. I have almost zero faith in men to stand up for my kid in a men's locker room. Sadly, men do not like to get involved.

What do you about re public restrooms then?

Let's flip the question around....where does your 4 yr old daughter get changed when daddy takes her to swimming lessons?

He cannot use the men's room alone. He goes with me in the women's room or goes to the men's if DH or another friend is with us.

She changes before at home.

And what about after the pool-- when she is wet and has to get home?

if you don't care about nudity, then have your son change on the deck or the parking lot. Towel around his waist and you are set.

Drive home in a wet suit with a towel. A little water isn't going to hurt the leather seats.

We've done this too. More often then not, we change at home and then my 7 yo will walk through the men's locker room quickly to get to the pool. My DS doesn't like being in the women's locker room. It is on a rare occasion when he has to change after to go some place. But we normally arrange our schedule so we don't need to use the changing rooms.

+1 My kids never changed in the locker room.
