The Cooks or Tahiti. There are packages you can get with airfare that will be in your range.

OMG people you can't fly two people to Australia, Patagonia or any of these other locations you're recommending for 5K AND eat and stay in a hotel.

Is that the right season for the highlands?

If the year is 1747, any season will do.

Guatemala/ semuc champey; lake atitlan, tikal
Ecuador: Galapagos, Laguna Quilotoa

This would be for a solo (semi) adventure. I would prefer not too cold/snowy, but some chilly air is fine. I just want to go someplace exceptionally beautiful.

Galapagos. It's the most impressive place I've been. That said, I don't know if it's beautiful per se - it's just awe inspiring.

If you just want gorgeous, banff comes to mind. Fiji is another such location.

Galapagos for 5k and for only one week? No way.

Second Santorini. Maui is awesome too. Also, what about Fiji?

+1 to Macchu Picchu--a week is about right to get yourself to Cuzco, see Macchu Picchu itself, and then see some of the surrounding sights.

Bahamas. Bermuda. Puerto Rico. Stay closer, get there sooner and relax while seeing beautiful scenery.

The area around Santa Barbara. You could stay in nice places and eat well for 5K. Drive into the gorgeous countryside.

No shit. OP did not indicate travel for two. You can get to Patagonia (Chile) under 5K.

How much do you estimate it would cost?
