Why does Landon recognize Rosh Hashanah?

Anonymous
The stock market is open on Jewish holidays. It's pretty pathleticic some schools shut down for Jewish holidays .

Business as usual for me and 90% of America

Sure, but look at how the market tanked this year on Rosh Hashana. Maybe coincidence, or maybe we should think about this a bit more.

Just like for the other holidays. If you knew ANYTHING you would know that Landon and Holton also don't close for Ash Wednesday, Holy Thursday, Good Friday, and Easter Monday. Stop looking for problems. You just sound like a dummy.

There is one poster (possibly a couple-few) who look for any opportunity to say bad things about Landon. Look at every Landon thread and you'll see the same thing regardless of the actual topic of the thread. I don't know where their vitriol comes from - maybe they had a bad experience/their DC had a bad experience or maybe they just enjoy trolling - but you'll see the same pattern/accusations across each thread.

There are trolls out there for all schools not just Landon. So don't worry, any people with a brain in their head will not give weight to those who seem to have a grudge. Those people are far too petty to warrant any real consideration. Let them rant, they just make themselves look bad.

If you are a Jewish family, why on earth would you send your kid there? And by refusing to even acknowledge Rosh Hashanah, what does it say about Landon's ability to recognize/respect diversity?

You just "noticed" something on the web calendar of a school that you're not affiliated with? You seem obsessed with Landon, and with doing anything you can to badmouth the school. Your behavior says so much more about you than it does about Landon.

No. There is a thread entitled, "What is it like to be Jewish at VA/DC Independent HS?", so I looked up Landon's calendar. Sorry you are embarrassed (as you should be) that Landon doesn't have any recognition of the Jewish community.

OP, I haven' t read the rest of the comments but what do you think about GDS not giving the day off?

Don't agree with OP, but detect something different in your post....

Presidents Day is okay though. Pretty pathetic.

We are religious Jews at a VA private that held school on Rosh Hashanah. We were neither offended nor did we expect the school to do anything for DS. His teacher kindly did not send homework home that day.

What did upset me is that I saw that the local public school held picture day on the first day of Rosh. While there are makeups for pictures, those Jewish students who were absent that day will not be part of the class picture.

That is pretty insensitive. Do you think it was an oversight? Just poor scheduling, rather than intentional exclusion?

Yes, the Fairfax County Public School system hates the Jews. It's a known fact. They are out to get them. You are absolutely 100% correct.

Np.

Stupidity is more likely than malice. But that's a pretty bad gaffe.

Ummm, maybe because Landon is honoring all religions? Why do you care if they take off for a Jewish holiday OP?
Anonymous
Agreed- just someone not looking at the calendar. This was in McLean where there is a Jewish population.

My kid is Catholic and no schools other than Catholic Schools honor any Catholic holy day. So, if you care that much OP send your kid to a Jewish school. Otherwise, why do you care? Surely you can troll on a topic more interesting than the one you mentioned.

Wait until you have a daughter who dates a Landon boy. You may change your tune.
