Why do Christians always try to convert you?

Where I used to live we would get Jehovah's Witnesses at the door all the time. Here the only ones who come to my door are enviro groups.

They'll never convert me.

All Christians do not believe that. I am a Christian and I don't believe a loving Creator -the Source of all that is - would allow anyone to burn in hell. That idea is so preposterous to me that it is laughable.

Like many Christians, I believe that Jesus came to show us the way to live. When we choose to live our lives in a Christ-like way, we are able to join that loving, creative consciousness of God. I believe there are many paths towards the same God. No one path is more "right" than another.

Exactly. Christianity is not a religion. It's a relationship . It is a fellowship with God. Evangelism is the message " I am a poor begger who has found water , food and eternal life and I want to show my fellow beggars what I found.

Another Catholic here and I have never tried to convert anyone. I have family and friends of many faith backgrounds including a cousin who is a militant atheist. I may speak about my own beliefs and practices but I have never tried to get someone to become Catholic. The only time I have even invited someone to my church is when we have had a special occasion or another Catholic has mentioned they were parish shopping.

Hindus believe that every being is created by God - so everyone is perfect. To try and convert someone means that you are acknowledging that God is flawed and created worthless people. We do not believe that God is flawed in his will to create people of other religions. Religion is a human construct, not a divine one.

I think you are super confused about Christian doctrine- Christians do not believe that non-Christians are "worthless people." That's a really huge jump in logic from trying to convert someone. Christians believe that God loves all people, last time I checked. Just because people are not perfect does not mean that God is flawed, it means that people have free will and occasionally make bad choices.

And he will send them o hell if they don't believe in him. He can't convince them on his own, so must send human missionaries out to save their souls.

Exactly. Christianity is not a religion. It's a relationship . It is a fellowship with God. Evangelism is the message " I am a poor begger who has found water , food and eternal life and I want to show my fellow beggars what I found.

Because god can't do it on his own, and if I can't get to the people, then God will send them to hell, despite his great love for them.

Those are the rules that God made.

And if you have really bad timing, those occasional bad choices could send you straight to hell for eternity. but remember, God LOVES you and give you so many chances to redeem yourself. He really wants the best for you.
