OP here. I didn't say it was bad - just not special. But yes, that Groupon is for the same restaurant. If I had known that was out there I probably wouldn't have gone there. Groupon is a red flag that a restaurant is hurting for business. Should have gone to 2941

| 2941, hands down. An experience unto itself, ideal for celebrating a special occasion. Happy birthday! |
| pp here -that's what I get for not reading the whole forum. You can try it next year! |
OP here. Thanks. We've been to and enjoyed 2941... just thought we'd try something different. But we'll stick with that for tried and true Our other go-to (if anyone is interested) tends to be J. Gilberts when we have DS with us.

| Wow- didn't 't know that it is a bad sign that the place is on groupon. Thx. Was planning a dinner at Trummers w DH but not anymore- they are on groupon. Thanks! |
| Also agree j Gilbert's is best on list so far! |
| Restaurant eve all the way: |
| Hands down Maggianos in Tyson's |
| Wine house in Fairfax is perfect for birthdays- food is good and great wines |
| Maggianos |
Just a red flag to me that they are trolling for business... I think a special occasion place shouldn't fall into that category. JMHO though. |
| I agree completely with you 14:28- great restaurants should never be on groupon- that's why I won't be going to Trummers on the Main anymore. |
My DH and I have frequented a few exquisite restaurants that have had deals on Living Social. I don't agree at all. |
Example? |
