A young mom in our neighborhood named their child Lexi and I asked DD if it was short for Alexandra or Alexis or ? "Nope it's not short for anything" I like it as a nickname but not so much a full name. They named her Lexi Lee or Lexi Lou or something like that. Meh. I don't care for it but could have been worse I guess. Read on another board the other day about someone naming their new baby Hatch. Okay feeling kinda sorry for Hatch. Not sure if her (it's a girl...) parents are hot pepper lovers or where that idea came from ![]() |
I went to high school with an Alexis called Lexi and her nickname was SexiLexi. |
of course it's not a stripper name.
it's a dog's name. |
It's not a stripper name. However...it's a nice kids name but a bit weird for an adult as it does sound very childish and like a nickname so for that reason you might want to give her the 'proper' name which works with Lexi as a nickname. You can call her Lexi when she's little and see if she'd prefer being called Alexandra, Alex or whatever when she gets older. |
They mean that Lexi sounds like a stage name, not a stripper's given name. |
I think Lexi is adorable as a nickname. I think of Amber and Crystal as stripper names. |
Flexi Lexi. |
Lexi alone sounds kind of stripperish, but if it's short for Alexandra I don't mind it too much. |
+1 I'm wondering if your DH knows a stripper whose name is Lexi. I also have a niece named Alexandria and we call her Lexi. |
Then you DEFINITELY won't like Alexis! ![]() |
No. |
I love Alexandra nn Alex, but I agree with OP's husband about Lexi. |
I hate to say it, but I think it kind of is |
My husband would say yes. We still named our daughter Alexandra which has some historical significance for us and he stands by that he will never call her Lexi. He likes Alex as a nickname. We will see what she likes when she is older, but she has a perfectly acceptable full name she can always choose to use. |
My daughters name is Lexi and we love it! |
