For tomato-based broth and high-quality mussels but just so-so fries: Hank's
For great, broth-based mussels: Central, Belga, B Too For divine, buttery-brothy-winey mussels and great fries: Marvin, Brasserie Beck, Le Diplomat |

Another vote for Brasserie Beck. I've only been to the one in DC. |
| Mussel Bar in Arlington near Balston? |
| Et voila |
| We tried the Kentlands Brasserie Beck last week and were unimpressed, although a large part of the issue was abysmally slow service (not just in terms of how long it took to get dishes from the kitchen, but the waiter also forgot several requests). I had crabcakes, not mussels, and the quality was high, but the pairing with the vegetables and sauce was ehhhhh. DH seemed happy with his mussels. |

| Any of the Blacks restaurants. Black Market Bistro, Blacks Bar & Kitchen, etc. |
| Hike out to Mannequin Pis in Olney. Absolutely amazing mussels and frites. The Belgian chocolate desserts are to die for if you manage so save room. |
| Agree that Mannequin Pis is worth the trip, but not the best place for kids. The tables are a little crowded and the chairs are not very stable. Our daughter nearly fell off her chair when we went a couple years ago. Haven't been back actually since then. |
