If the details of your story didn't match my ex I would say you are dating him.

You are the rebound chick. With my ex, he is also a pathological liar and very charming.

You fell for it, learn from this experience and move on to find someone better.

Years ago, in one of those magazine advice columns for women written by a man, I remember the words:

"Watch what he does, not what he says."

Women too often get caught up by words. His actions are showing exactly what everyone else has said -- he wants to keep the option of hooking up with you when he comes to the U.S., until he finds someone he wants to get serious about. He is putting in the least amount of effort possible that he thinks might get that for him from you.
