Do You Think It Is Possible For An Animal (Pet) To Actually Feel Love??

Anonymous
For instance, my current kitty hates it when I cuddle him. Very standoffish. So when he sees me coming into the room, he always puts his head down, closes his eyes and "pretends" to be sleeping. At first, I fell for this sleek ploy. But after a few times of actually catching him awake and licking himself prior to seeing me coming, I am now on to him!!

I fail to see what is at all endearing about this.

Why? Do you believe in evolution? Do you think that highly complex emotions just suddenly appeared in humans from nowhere? Animals clearly mourn, mope, show excitement, etc. Why is it so far-fetched that they could experience emotion?

Just look at Mr G and Jellybean.

My kitty sleeps right next to me all night.

Then in the morning when I wake up, I don't know who makes it to the bathroom first, me or my kitty. It's like he knows my routine. Wake up, head to the potty. He wakes up when I do, jumps off the bed and runs into the bathroom knowing I will too. Lol.

Trust me people, pets love their owners unconditionally. No one else on this planet will love you like your pet. I promise you that. No one.

Your pet will always be there for you no matter how you treat him or her, no matter your mood, no matter anything.

As for your human counterparts? Not a chance. They will judge you the second they see you.

My dog felt hate. She hated anyone who called her "fat".

He leaves his crap all over the litter box.
He constantly takes me for granted. It's like he now expects I'm going to be the one to fix breakfast and dinner every night. And it's not like he works. I come home exhausted from a day of work and basically the first question is, "Where the hell is my dinner?"
He doesn't pay attention to the things that are important to me. Case in point, I like my things on the bedside table to be organized a certain way, and I find he constantly has moved things around or just tossed my stuff on the floor.
He doesn't listen to me. I will find he'll just glaze over when I'm talking to him and sometimes will even close his eyes when I'm mid sentence.
Then there is the issue of trust. I'll wake up in the middle of the night and he's nowhere to be found, and he acts like I'm insane when I question him about where he's been.

This thread has been a real eye opener...

Yes - the dogs love us. No question.

Yes, I'm sure cats and dogs feel emotions like us. No question about it. Cats show their emotions a lot less, but they're there.

Oh, I miss her.

I have two and the male cat definitely loves me. He sleeps next to me every night. When I am out of town, he goes sleeping downstairs and ignore DH and kids. The female cat loves everybody.

It is more fun when your pet plays hard to get than just automatically slobbering all over you

My Saturday mornings are the best part of my week - sleep in, then cuddle with my dog for a while before heading downstairs. I know she loves me, and I sure do love her too.

My dog doesn't sleep with me at night. We get up in the morning for a quick potty break and then I get back and bed and she waits for me to invite her up. We cuddle for 10 minutes and then start our day.

Elephants feel love. Cows feel joy. I am saw some "dancing" after they were done milking and were let out in the pasture to graze. Pigs feel terror when they are to be killed. Only the bible lets people believe that animals don't feel emotions like humans.

No. They will "love" anyone who feeds them and pets them.

They are an evolutionary wonder.
