Upscale women do you now buy clothes for yourself at Target?

Maybe. But I never wear the same outfit twice so quality is not a big concern for me.

Yes. Disposable. Exactly. Wear it once, discard. Never wear the same thing twice. Some may not like that quality, to me it is a real selling point.

I see no point in spending $300 on a pair of jeans - I don't want to wear them, wash them over and over and over again. How tedious.

The body makes the clothes. The clothes do not make the body.

This is hilarious. You sound like a downmarket Paris Hilton.

Exactly. And when you want to toss them and get a brand new pair - no biggie.

Whatever. You can have ONE pair of new jeans this week or an entire brand new wardrobe. Your call, no need to get catty about it.

It wasn't a catty comment. Not all women look good wearing all types of material. That doesn't mean that I don't look good in those clothes, though.

Then continue to wear your cheap Target clothing. Just don't kid yourself that people who understand quality clothing can't tell. They can. They do. Hopefully people have good enough manners that no one ever says anything. I certainly wouldn't say anything unless a good friend specifically asked. But I do notice the crooked seams/stitching, poor dye jobs and polyester and acrylic.

Honestly, who spends time analyzing other people's clothing? Sounds like you have too much time on your hands or too few thoughts in your head.

Most people notice the entire package and no way do the zoom in on little, insignificant stitching details. If you look good, that is what they notice. Put me in a dress from Target and I will look good. Will that apply to everyone? Well, no, it won't.

If you say so.

Member of a private club. And I wear clothing from Target. It is hit or miss, as the quality control is not great. But I have a ponte dress that is way better than the similar one I have from J. Crew. And a maxi dress that garnered a lot of compliments from the country club set. It happens to fit me a lot better than the ones I have from Nordstrom. C9 workout tops are great (although I didn't see any this weekend that I like as much as the ones from 2-3 years ago). You do have to examine the clothes pretty carefully for fit and finish though, and ordering online can be chancy, because you don't know what the fabric is going to feel like, or if you are going to get one of the better made items, or one with crooked seams. But honestly, I find that the case with Banana Republic, too, even though the items are 5x the price.

What ISN'T poor quality, other than extremely expensive designer labels? And even a number of those companies have moved to Chinese manufacturing.

You can find quality but not super expensive clothing. I have found a lot at Nordstrom (their in-house brand Classique Entier is pretty good). Sometimes I find it in surprising places. Some of the stuff I have purchased from H&M has been great quality. You just need to know what to look for. I haven't found anything at Target.

I'm almost afraid to admit this but Walmart and K-Mart clothes fit and look better to/on me than target clothes do.
