Seven-day Blastocyst Question

Anonymous
I had a Day- 7 girl blast FET yesterday, 10/16, the grade was 6bb. I'll let you guys know how it goes. I enjoyed reading different thoughts on the Day-7's as I'm a bit worried. RE said 70% success since it tested "normal". This was the only blast that tested normal out of 3 blasts that made it. Wishing everyone positivity and good luck!!

I had two Day-6 (I know not the same, but I had similar worries) grade 6BB blasts transferred and it worked. I have healthy boy/girl twins from that cycle.

Stay optimistic and best of luck to you!!

Just an update from my 5/21/17 post about my 7-day blast transfer. I am now 26 weeks pregnant with a normally developing baby boy! Of course I'm still nervous after everything I went through to get to this point, but I do hope that this provides some reassurance to anyone who comes across this thread.

And this was in spite of adding 26 frozen eggs taken when I was 34 and 38 years to the mix (only 14 survived the thaw, only 1 fertilized, and none made it to blastocyst). So, I'm left with a Day 7 blastocyst from one of my 41 year old eggs.

My embryologist told me that there was about a 30% chance it would come back CCS normal. If it was normal, I had about a 30% chance of it leading to a live birth.

I've googled day 7 blastocyst and have found that there isn't a lot of information or anecdotal stories about successes or failures.

I'd appreciate hearing more about other women's experience with it.

Thank you.
hello I'm interested to hear how everything went for you because I'm in the same situation right now

I too am in the same position right now, only had 3 make it to blastocyst and of the 3 only one came back normal after genetic testing. The one that made it is a 7-day rated AA. Hubby and I meet with CCRM next week to discuss options. Doctor said he thinks there's a 50% chance of leading to a successful pregnancy, but I'm reading online it's more like 28% chance. I'm 37, had 23 eggs retrieved, 19 mature, 9 fertilized and I'm left with 1. But it only takes one.... Best of luck to you, keep us posted!

Everyone loves her and life is just magically easy for her. Her brother and sister are also great kids-smart, funny, etc--but the 7 day blast kid has that special something. I love them equally but I watch the world around us just adore her.

This post warmed my heart. What wonderful words to describe a child. We are on day 6 after egg retrieval and have only 2 blastocysts that qualified for biopsy and freeze and are waiting on the status of 7 more, 3 of which are "looking good" according to our RE in terms of viability for biopsy and freeze on day 7. I've been reading so many pessimistic posts on culturing to day 7 - which made this post was so meaningful to me. Thank you to the individual who posted this- I'm so incredibly happy for the joy your 7 day blast has brought to the earth and please know how much your post touched my heart and gave me a smile after the past week of worry.

I went to ccrm in lone star last year. I ended up with 2 CCS normal day 6 BB blasts, transferred both and have awesome boy/ girl twins. I believe in their lab, and took a huge financial risk with them and was lucky to have it all work out. AA grading is awesome - good luck to you!

It's been helpful to find this and I hope others will return and relay their outcomes. I'm 37, only had two eggs retrieved, and one of the two was pre-blastocyst this morning (day 6). Planning to freeze tomorrow as long as it has progressed to full blast. It's our only shot so anyone reading this can imagine how we feel. We're also using Shady Grove in MD. I'll definitely come back and report if we do go to transfer.
